Caravanning in North Wales

Hi, we are going visit friends in North wales at half term. They haven't room for us to stay with them so we are taking a touring caravan.

Does anyone have any ideas about where we could stay? Looked at a Haven site but it is already full and there's another called Ty Mawr but they were quite rude on the phone.

I would be really grateful for any ideas .

what part of north wales?

We stayed at a beautiful camping and caravan park on Anglesey (won awards for the best toilet and shower facilities - had music playing in them!)

Hi
Come here (just outside Caernarfon)
Lovely place and lovely people.I go there a lot just to walk and visit the cafe as it is so delightful.

Riverside camping

Thanks YBM and Sallystrawb,

Friends live in Denbigh so have been
looking around the North Wales coast
at Rhyl and Prestatyn.

I think we would be better off at a site with some indoor facilities in case it
rains all week.

friends have a baby so wouldn't want to
inflict all five of us on them the whole
time.

Its not an area that I know at all, except
that friends are very happy in Denbigh.

Another place in a lovely setting that people rave about.

moondog · 16/10/2007 23:38

Oh,that is about 45 mins drive from the places I have recommended so a bit far perhaps?
Not so familair with that end (althoguh I went to boarding school in Denbigh.)

moondog · 16/10/2007 23:39

Glad to hear it MamaG.

I am doing a Mumsnet house swap next week with CountessDracula. She loves Wales too.

Thanks moondog,
Site looks lovely.
Would there be anywhere for the kids to
cycle at all? they do have wet weather
kit so would probably be okay if it turns
foul.
Will ring them tomorrow.

Which one Serin?
There is a cycle path near the first and a steam train passes through the second one which is magic.

I would stay there happily and am
a.) Very fussy indeed
b.) Soooo not a caravanner

serin · 17/10/2007 00:07

Well I meant Riverside but that was before you sent the other which looks perfect for
cycling!

Is it really 45mins from Denbigh?
Didn't realise wales was that big .

We used to camp but youngest has Asthma which
gets worse every time he sleeps in a tent,
hence caravan. Costs a blinkin fortune to tow it! (at 20mph of course!!!!!).

Hi there,

Ty Mawr is a nice place. We stayed there last year, it's a Park resorts place and there was plenty to do. We took our motorhome, touring site was okay, grass I think? Can't remember..we just went for the basic. There is road to cross though if you want to get to the beach.

Know that Haven are full but must say there was a heck of a walk from the Touring site at Haven and the entertainment. It was nice but I preferred Ty Mawr. Though it is right next to the beach.

As I remember Ty Mawr was a lot cheaper than Haven as well?
