This is their website. Is it as good as it looks? Did anyone stay in Apple or Pear cottages? Are they nice?

We stayed in Pear in July. If you search you'll see oru thoughts and also in the MN Review section. What do you want to know specifically ? What age of dc(s) ?

Oh thanks LIZS. We're thinking of going next September when ds will be 2.7yrs. I don't really know what i want to know lol. But you loved it yes? We've been to Cornwall 2 years running and really love it

We enjoyed it . Your lo would love it , the animals and play areas are ideal for that age. Would he be in a bed by then as a cot may prove tight in the second room . Standard overall was very good and good attention to detail.

Things I did n't like so much were a mouse in the house (eek ) and cleaning was patchy(found a tablet under one of the kids' beds when we packed up). Pear had a (admittedly large) shower but no bath and no where really to dry damp stuff other than just inside the door in the kitchen area. Fine for a week though

We love it, we have been 4 years running and I am just about to book for next year.

CountessPHOENIXula · 16/10/2007 20:53

Aha squirrels it was you who recommended it i think on Feb 06 post natal. How are you? Do pop over to our thread and say hi

ahh, I didn't get you in your halloween name! oh well I will recommend again (and have just booked - we have been in Pentree for the last 2 years and it's gone, grr, so I wanted to make sure we get a cottage).
Apple and Pear look okay - but they are down the bottom of the hill away from the play area, new soft play barn, trampoline etc.
Personally, I would go for Coliza, Buddelia or Hydrangea (or Pentree - but that is a bit bigger for only 1 child, having said that it isn't that much more than the others I don't think).

Aaaarrrrggghhh for the mouse LIZS. I read on the website about no bath in either Apple or Pear but i think we could cope for a week

Not sure about him been in a bed but i think he will be by then, we've just took him out of his grobag and put him under a quilt for bed tonight for the 1st time so the next step is taking the sides off his cotbed

The place we've stayed for the last 2 years are very basic apartments so a cottage would be nicer anyway i should think. Ds will really love the animals i think.

I love the look of coliza squirrels but we can't afford a lot and Apple and Pear look ideal for us 3 and cheap

oh, just looked and didn't realise that there was that much of a difference with apple & pear. They are down near the lake, lovely and quiet. I've booked for May 08 now .

CountessPHOENIXula · 16/10/2007 21:20

I want to book now but i don't know what holidays i've got at work yet.

Just returned from a gorgeous long weekend in Bosinver- stayed in Olearia- wasn't too expensive as grandparents came too. The autumn colours on the trees were so beautiful!Your ds will LOVE it. The indoor playbarn was lovely for little ones. So much space for them to run around. We will definately be going back. We even used the outdoor pool, they still have it open despite saying only till sept on website. It was so warm it was like a bath, dd stayed in for hours(4yr old).Children would love it even more when they can play with others.
Agree cleaning could have been a bit better, I had to clean cobwebs off some wall lamps and when we opened the oven door there was grease on the floor which had been missed!
On the whole the cottage was well equipped and very cosy.

CountessPHOENIXula · 16/10/2007 23:27

I've tried to talk my parents into coming with us to make it cheaper for us but they're not bothered. Until i know what holidays i've got at work i'll keep nagging at my mum and she might give in lol. No way am i holidaying with the inlaws though

we have had a few holidays with my parents since the dc's were born, but Bosinver is just for us.

CountessPHOENIXula · 20/10/2007 15:10

I've just booked

My parents and grandparents are coming with us. We're going in September 08 and staying in Jacks Barn Cottage

Anyone stayed in that cottage?

LIZS · 20/10/2007 15:19

Is that the one opposite the Reception ?

CountessPHOENIXula · 20/10/2007 15:37

Yes looks like it on the map.

LIZS · 20/10/2007 17:01

Laundry /info room is underneath, didn't see inside though.

CountessPHOENIXula · 20/10/2007 18:12

Does it look nice from the outside then?

OP posts:
LIZS · 20/10/2007 19:28

Looks fine , not sure if it has a private garden area behind or not.

ChasingSquirrels · 20/10/2007 19:35

I am pretty sure that someone from another board I post on is staying in that one (also with her parents) next April. I recommended the place and she went for that one.
Laundry room won't be nosiy, and neither is reception - its a very quite laid back place. No idea on the inside of jack's barn - but you are near to the action being at the top (in so far as there is any action).
