Has anybody taken a 6 month baby abroad on Holiday? thinking of going away in January but little one will be getting weaned on to solids by then.

I personally would hold off with the solids until after you get back from holiday. Far easier to stick to what you know on holiday.

There are plenty of child friendly holidays abroad, you'll be fine.

Yes. What do you want to know?

ellehcim · 11/10/2007 12:30

We did it with DS1. There's a cool website called tinytotsaway (I think) which allows you to buy all of the stuff you need on line and its there waiting for you when you arrive. Prices aren't much more than normal prices and it saves the excess baggage fee. Fab for bulky things like nappies and swim nappies.

Didn't know about that Ellehcim - what a great idea.

I'm worried becaues with my first child I stayed at home pureying vegetables and poaching apples and pears, I wanted o do the same with my second but if I'm abroad i will have to take jars which I don't mind but not all the time. Will have a look at that company who will deliver, thanks for thatmsugestion.

Do you think I would be best to bring powder baby food?

I know its fab. I tell everyone. You can buy formula, baby food, sun lotions, even things like pool toys.

Of course you are then stuffed if for some reason somehting goes wrong and they don't deliver (although not heard any negative feedback)

Sunshinecursedmummy · 11/10/2007 16:54

I will definitely use it when I have another.

Gall - you could try BLW then you wouldn't have to worry about jars vs puree.

Gall don't forget the airlines have gone mental about "fluids" - including babyfood I think, definitely milk/water/formula - check carefully what they will let you carry!

Sunshinecursedmummy · 11/10/2007 17:20

They will only let you carry baby milk in a baby's bottle. I know as I tried to carry some liquid through for my DS in a water bottle and I had to throw it away.

Don't know where you are thinking of going but i've taken all of mine away at this stage and I gave them advacados, bananas, peaches, ripe pears, things you can mash up easily (have taken hand blender as well).

Thinking of going to Fuertaventura, thanks Westcountry for some good suggestions.
