Dilemma - To take the kids or not?

OK here's the thing. We want to go skiing this winter (JAN) and cannot decide if we take kids or not. Granny has offered to have them - They are 3 and 5 - and if they went they woukd bein ski school and kindergarden.

Logic says leave them with granny, but my heart says take them??

Oh wise oracle of mumsnet - what shall I do??

Good idea to try it before you go, at elast then you will be better able to assess whether your younger child in particular will hack it for long and have realistic expectations for the holiday.

Don't know where in the country you are but if you can, try to get to one of the Snowdomes rather than the toothbrush-style slopes. The feeling is so different to snow and it is harder falling on the matting plus you risk them getting a thumb or hand caught in the mesh.

Well finally booked the holiday, Granny and Grandpa are coming too so that should be good. In the end we took them dry skiing on satuarday and they LOVED it the little one thought falling over was hilarious and throwing her gloves off even more so!! Seriously they were great, they learnt to side step and to walk in their skis which is half the battle at this age.

I have bought ski-suits and sallopettes (hennes and ASDA!) and we just need moon boots and we are ready. I am so excited as it will be the first skiing holiday in 5 years
