DOES ANYONE WORK AT PETERBOROUGH PASSPORT OFFICE

Im looking for someone who could hopefully help us out. I am a hard working nurse who has worked all the way through this pandemic and because i have not stopped i forgot my son's passport expired in March and needed renewed.
We are due to fly on our family holiday on the 16th September, where my dad and his wife have booked to suprise the kids. My kids are 10 and 14.
On the 28th August i realised my 10yr olds passport expired and straight away we got it renewed online and the passport sent to Peterborough as advised. It was signed in on 1/9/20 and is still sitting there waiting to be processed. Ive rang nearly everyday to be told there is nothing they can do to speed up the application, even my MP rang them to be told the same.
Im absolutely devastated that me and my son might have to stay at home and send my husband and daughter as we cannot get a penny back off the holiday company. Im absolutely desperate and just hoping someone can help us out, im totally burned out and need this time away. 🙏

Could you look into the fast track appointment process? Although it might be trickier now you're no longer in possession of the passport. passportrenewal.org.uk/fast-track-passport-renewal.html

ConfusedPanda · 06/09/2020 17:27

I don't work there but once got a fast track passport there, it was done the same day (4 hours ish IIRC). Expensive though.

Can you go down there when it opens and explain, see if this might be an option?

ConfusedPanda · 06/09/2020 17:30

Argh, sorry I just realised that option isn't available due to covid. I'd probably still try going down there though if it were me, these things are always easier if you can find someone to speak to face to face. Good luck, sorry you're in this situation Sad

ShellsAndSunrises · 06/09/2020 17:33

I’d agree that at this point; you’d be better to try and sweet talk someone into upgrading you to fast track... your chances of finding someone who works there with the power to both find the passport and speed this up seem slim.

Best of luck, I hope you can call go! Flowers

A little bump for you op Thanks

minipie · 06/09/2020 18:13

Here’s what I tried to speed up my DD renewal back in July

  • tweeted HMPO
  • emailed my MP
  • emailed HMPO head office on [email protected]
  • phoned several times

Included my ref number and travel dates in my emails and tweets. Also mentioned that friends had applied later than me and got theirs back!

One of these things worked as I got an email back asking for proof of travel, and then they expedited the renewal. Just got it in time.

Hope one of these works for you

I ordered my daughter's on 20th Aug and despite messages to say it will take longer than normal, it arrived on 2nd Sept. Less than 2 weeks and that was with a bank holiday weekend in the middle.

gemmay1 · 06/09/2020 21:55

Thanks for your advice. No facility at the minto upgrade to fast track.
I have tweeted a million and 1 times, emailed Peterborough, durham and Liverpool office and Liverpool replied saying they couldn't expedite it as it has not been in their possession for more than 4 weeks. I have rang every day too.i have emailed boris Johnson (im not expecting a reply), the chief exec of the passport offices. Ive included a cover letter with confirmation of when it was booked and our flight details in the hope someone takes pitty on us. Im either going to get this passport at the last minute or an injunction to stop me contacting them Smile

16 September isn't that during the school term ?

fuzzyduck1 · 07/09/2020 14:41

So your going to take your kids out of school for a holiday?
A bit irresponsible really. Also with the way the travel thing is going you
May have to go into quarantine on their return!

You’d be better off staying put.

dollypartonscoat · 07/09/2020 14:49

Your parents have booked it but you're the one who has to stay home and not your husband?! Confused

Why?! Unless he's an even harder working nurse who has worked throughout this pandemic Grin

gemmay1 · 07/09/2020 17:12

So yes it is during term time but the holiday was booked last year and had previously been booked to go in school holidays but lost it due to thomas cook going bust. And as selfish or irresponsible people think i really need this holiday, ive not only caught covid myself whilst at work with no ppe i have had to deal with it every day at work and mentally that is draining. September was the only availability to go due to other reasons.
I was going to stay at home because i couldn't go and leave my son at home and because i drive and would have driven to any airport for another flight if the passport arrived later.

If it doesn't arrive surely your husband stays at home, is it his son as well? Confused

dollypartonscoat · 07/09/2020 17:57

Yep. If you personally need the holiday that much then you go and the husband stays at home surely.

He can get a taxi/train/lift to an airport if need be
