Covid fit to fly

Jet 2 announced that they are re-commencing flights to Cyprus despite initially saying they wouldn’t fly whilst needing a negative test was necessary. We are due to go in a few weeks. The only private tests that we can find are £200 each and take too long to come through. Has anyone heard back from jet2 yet if you still get a refund if you can’t get a test? Or do you know of any much cheaper covid fit to fly certs in the north west?

I think you can get a test if you phone up. It's free. The only test you pay for is the anti body test.

Just book a drive in test on the gov.uk website, and select 'other' as your reason for testing. They release appointments day by day.

As previously said, we arranged tests at a drive in testing centre on Wednesday night and got our results this morning. We ticked the "other" box. Quick, efficient and a very short wait.

PunkAssMoFo · 23/08/2020 07:38

LAlady did you book everyone in your household on the same appointment or did you book separate appointments?

Can someone please confirm that you don’t have to declare that you have symptoms if you get an NHS COVID test? Do they actually ask you when you take the test?

Also, when they sms or email the results does the confirmation provide much detail. I’m traveling to Madeira and they require a negative test to have been taken withIn 72 hours of the flight. You can have one at the airport when you arrive but I’d prefer to get one beforehand.

Thank you.

When you book a test online, you will be asked if you are suffering from certain symptoms. I said no to all of those and that causes no problem in continuing to make the booking.
They do not ask you anything at the actual test centre.

Thanks for the reply. I’ve been looking on trip advisor and it looks like the test is free at The airport in Madeira and that lol you have to do is stay in your hotel room until the results are sent. Which will be less than 12 hours. I think I’ll do that as I’m not sure of the ethics of using an NHS test to suit my holiday plans. Iyswim. I also don’t want to pay £200 or whatever for a private test. It just means we will spend the first evening in the hotel room which isn’t too bad.

Sorry for typos

That is very noble of you ( sounds sarcastic but it isn't!) and probably a good idea although our drive in test centre is very quiet and they seem pleased to see anyone.
Have a good holiday

I would use the NHS testing centres as they are very quiet at the moment. The government is keen for as many people as possible to get tested so they can report higher testing levels, and at the moment people are not coming forward in large enough numbers due to not wanting to bother the testing service. The testing service is actually desperate for more takers and are happy to test non symptomatic people who are unlikely to be positive as that will make the Covid figures look better.

Thanks for your reply.
Having looked into some more we decided that we would take the test when we arrive in Madeira. It’s free and just means we have to hang out in the hotel room in the evening so not too much of an inconvenience

However, it’s all looking like it might end up being cancelled if they introduce the quarantine requirement 😭😭😭😭😭
