Hotels and Kids Packs

Hi

As a small business owner who have been supplying kids packs to wedding for 7 years, we were wondering what mums opinion of hotels giving out kids packs would be.

Would you appreciate a pack with, crayons, puzzle book, jigsaw, puzzle, and a small non noisy toy?

Would it make you look upon the hotel in a good light?

Would it make you more likely to leave a good review (pending nothing else being wrong with your stay)?

Thank you in advance for taking the time to answer these questions. With wedding being cancelled I am trying to keep my little business viable and your answers are very valuable to me, so thank you

I wouldn't be that bothered by the things you mention because colouring, puzzle books etc are small and portable and are therefore things that I carry in my bag to entertain dd. I would be more concerned about the waste that unused or partly used packs would create.
I would prefer bulky items be available to use/borrow eg board games, beach toys

Some hotels give these out already, eg some Hiltons. I’d say it’s a small positive.

I wouldn't be thrilled....I'd just be thinking of the waste....

It'd be lovely to see something more novel....i love the idea of the board games or beach toys being made available.

I probably wouldn’t have been too bothered to be honest. If we had travelled to the hotel in the car, we would have had space to pack these items with us and if we had gone on the train (more likely for a city break) we wouldn’t have room to bring the things back and I wouldn’t like the waste.

We tend to travel on a budget though (mainly hostels now as there are 5 of us, but when there were 4 of us, we were a travel lodge/premier inn family), so we might not be your target market.

I think it would be a plus. Ok, so you could bring things like that from home but it's not as exciting as opening up a present from the hotel.. could you include a local quiz or treasure hunt that they got a prize if they completed?

Info on what attractions there are for children locally in both rain and shine would be useful along with board games and internet strong enough to run Netflix on but quite honestly, i completely agree with the waste comments.

It depends on the context at the hotel. We specifically choose hotels that have children's facilities. Watergate Bay for example. These type of hotels also tend to have colouring sheets and crayons available in restaurants, so an additional pack not really necessary. If the hotel had no other facilities, a small selection would be helpful. However would rather have more like the contents of a 'busy bag' such as shape sorting, colour matching games etc, rather than just the usual colouring. Agree with PP that overall I'd prefer reusable items like board games, books and treasure hunts.

Sorry but to me these things usually mean either plastic tat (which I hate with a passion), bubbles (stain clothes so not ideal where children are likely to be wearing their naice clothes), sweets (I have a child with dietary restrictions and not everyone likes their children to have sweets, especially before a meal). My experience of colouring in sets is usually: cheap and nasty crayons that don't really work, tiny pencils (again wasteful as we have loads of pencils at home and also the issue of no sharpener when they inevitably break after 2 mins). Or felt tips - again not ideal for young children when wearing best clothes.
To be honest, if attending a formal event with toddlers, I'd pack something to keep them amused myself.

Just realised that this was about hotels generally, not just for weddings etc. Blush. But yeah, the same applies really. It's just more stuff that gets thrown away or left behind. If we're busy on holiday, we can keep ourselves amused.
We'd enjoy a board game / book library in reception much more, where we could use something and return for others to use afterwards.
