Just wanting a quick poll on what people's thoughts are about going to France with current lockdown relaxations? - Euro tunnel, caravan 2 x hotel stop offs en route with 2 DC's .....All facilities on sites open apparently but gel, masks etc needed. Wondering will it be empty? Hard work and weird to follow rules? What would you do? x

The Carrefour delivery was successful! It was two hours later than the '2-hour' slot though, which seemed to be just a French relaxed view of time (we did call to find out where it was and there didn't seem to be anything wrong). Some missing items and subs but very few given the size of the order and sensible replacements.

Morning all. I've searched on Google with no joy, so I thought some of you on here could possibly help. Can anyone link to a user friend map showing the green / red areas etc at the moment? We're due to head to a campsite near Saumur next week but aren't sure if we should go or not. I really really want to, though!

We’re still going next week (as long as New restrictions Aren’t brought in). We’re going to the Dordogne region (it was booked at the end of last year). Anyone know what infection rates are like there? I’ve gone onto the link above. I’m ashamed to say my french is pretty poor these days and I’m struggling to navigate my way round it. I’m feeling a bit apprehensive about the whole thing now.

Greenbeanie88 · 04/08/2020 21:10

Dordogne looks relatively low in terms of cases. We are still planning on going next Friday if we're allowed. We're a bit further north than Dordogne and I'm waiting to hear from the owners of the gite we are staying at with a bit of an update from that region.

MissusMaker · 04/08/2020 21:16

We are going to Picardy, near Reims at the end of the month and I'd be very interested if anyone knows how they are doing? I'm on the cusp of cancelling tbh

smogsville · 04/08/2020 21:23

The other thing you can do is google wherever you're going with the 'news' button selected and it brings up recent articles from local press which are likely to talk about mask wearing/ local restrictions. That's how I'm keeping abreast of anything new.

zippyswife · 04/08/2020 21:44

@smogsville good thinking.

@Greenbeanie88 that’s good to hear. We’re in a campsite. I’m a bit apprehensive about how busy it will be. I’d feel more comfortable in a gite. I’m sure you’ll have a lovely time.

fartyface · 05/08/2020 11:48

Just to check in again and say we are still going. We are gonig to aube then ardeche. Cases are very low and as it happens we've been tested this week so all very low risk.

Im in full packing mode and not looking at the news now..

zippyswife · 05/08/2020 12:01

@fartyface when do you leave? I’m looking forward to getting packing now

User27aw · 05/08/2020 12:25

We are still going (hopefully) to Brittany last week in August. Getting worried that the govt will put France back on the essential travel only list.

zippyswife · 05/08/2020 12:47

@User27aw yes me too... I’m just watching and waiting. I’m only going to actually pack the day before. We leave next Thursday.

CoteDAzur · 05/08/2020 12:52

We're in the South of France. There is very little social distancing going on here and the virus is starting to gain hold once again.

The mask is compulsory on the streets of the central shopping areas in Nice since Monday.

"Clusters" are announced in St Tropez and two restaurants are shut down after multiple personnel tested positive.

dingit · 05/08/2020 12:53

Has anyone seen anything in the news recently?

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 05/08/2020 13:00

We are due to go this weekend but have decided not to. The graphs showing national Covid numbers are creeping up and we can’t risk 2 weeks quarantine. Gutted. There are articles in the Mail and the Guardian today and yesterday about France which don’t sound good.

I would go if we had no plans for the two weeks afterwards. We were going by plane too which is even more risk.

dingit · 05/08/2020 13:03

Thanks I will take a look. We are driving but my dc need to go back to work and university Sad

zippyswife · 05/08/2020 13:07

We are driving and we can both wfh when we return so we will still go even if quarantine is brought in. If they advise against travel to France then we will have to cancel as our insurance would be void. I haven’t seen those articles. I will take a look now.

zippyswife · 05/08/2020 13:18

Just read those articles... doesn’t look great

jennyfin · 05/08/2020 13:33

I’m flying to Paris Friday and haven’t packed or anything yet. I’m obsessively reading anything and everything trying to gauge if this weekend will be when they say essential travel only. Tbh, I did think it would have happened before now.

zippyswife · 05/08/2020 13:39

You may be ok with Friday. So difficult to say. It doesn’t look great though. I’m feeling much less confident now. I think restrictions will be brought in before 13th when I’m due to go. Good luck.

jennyfin · 05/08/2020 13:43

I so hope so! The only thing making me sweat slightly is my partner is self employed - if we’re made to come home or isolate then that could be tricky 😩 just have to play it by ear I suppose.

LittleRen · 05/08/2020 18:25

We have booked Normandy for last week of August.. pay balance on 7th, can cancel by 14th for half back on accom. Not booked any travel.

I'm so unsure... we were supposed to be going to USA so booked this when things seemed clearer. We could 2 week quarantine but the kids are back in school. So uncertain!!

LittleRen · 05/08/2020 18:27

I wonder if France will go on the block list.. it's always so political with France, they are our closest country. I'm not sure I can see it happening..

Bezzi · 05/08/2020 18:31

I'm not sure they will go on the quarantine list it was more local lockdowns that worried me and not being able to properly relax or enjoy the holiday (we cancelled on the last day we could get a refund)
