Special holiday 2021 ideas please

It's DHs 40th next summer and we had originally planned to go to Orlando and do a Disney/Universal trip. However hearing about so many people who have not been able to go this year and have rebooked for next year, plus it's the 50th anniversary, I expect the prices are going to be sky high - as well as it likely to be extra busy.

So we've been thinking we should come up with somewhere else to go. Would love to hear of recommendations for anywhere special you've loved.

Our criteria is:
Budget £10k
10-14 days
Not a cruise (already have one booked for next year)
Family friendly (DD will be 10)
Lots of activities (we're not lying on the beach relaxing type of people)
Waterpark/theme parks nearby

Costa Rica - amazing! Amazing...

Other companies do similar trips - loads of posts on MN about it.
I think about our trip all the time and we went 3 years ago...would 100% go back as well

It's not theme parks more natural adventure - eg rope swings in the jungle, wild beach swimming and loads and loads of amazing animals

How about going to Vietnam via Singapore? Singapore you could go to Universal Studios. Vietnam is very interesting, we did a three centre - Hanoi for a couple of nights (museums/water puppet theatre/good food). Then boat trip to Bai Tu Bay overnight, followed by a stay in Hoi An.

We also went to Cambodia afterwards. You can also fly there via Hong Kong and go to Disney there, but under the current circumstances, it may be better to avoid it!

@bestbefore I wouldn't even have thought of Costa Rica, it sounds amazing will do some research thank you

@underneaththeash I had no idea there was universal in Asia! Definitely sounds like something to consider thank you.

I booked Mexico this year - although Covid cancelled it - felt like a balance of lots for kids but also history

I would also question travelling East to West coast USA in only 10-14 days.

Canadian Rockies? Loads to see and do - easy flight to Calgary.

@Parker231 would never have even considered the Canadian Rockies before, but after googling it looks amazing!

Some friends of ours did the Canadian Rockies last summer and said it was amazing. They flew to Vancouver and out of Calgary, seeing loads of cool stuff on the way.

The advantage of the Canadian Rockies are that they are amazing at anytime of the year although the Canadian Maritimes are a favourite of mine.

Last year for our 40ths we flew to New York and spent 5 days there, then got the train to Niagra Falls, spent 24 hours there and then we got the train onto Toronto and spent a few days there before flying back.

We had 2 DC with us aged 9 and 6, and it was a good mix.

You could order a couple of Trailfinders brochures for some good ideas.

@Barbeasty I didn't realise trailfinders still did brochures, thought everything was online now, thank you I'll definitely do that.

I'm scared to book anything at the moment tho, really hoping travel will be possible next year
