Ryanair COVID payment delays

Has anyone else not been able to get a refund from ryanair yet? I've opened a case here to hopefully make some more progress. (Free service - you can join the case if you are in the same situation). Smile

Sadly I can't afford for Ryanair to flounder. They are the only airline that flies to the city where my relatives live 🤷🏼‍♀️
They have been shit but I actually have sympathy for them. At least they made the vouchers easy to spend. Another airline I've been waiting for has not only refused to refund within a year but has also made it almost impossible to book with the credit.

To update that following my last post I went onto live chat on Monday at 6am and informed the agent I did not want vouchers. He said he would put me in the refund queue that I thought I had been in since March.
Lo and behold today I have received an email saying I will be refunded in 5 to 7 working days.

I will believe it when I see it and regardless of cost will try and book elsewhere in future.
I have family in Ireland who I visit annually and will happily pay double on Aer Lingus next year. We are giving it a miss this year. I really mean that as well.

As I said in my first post we are booked with Lyinair in September but thankfully Easyjet in October.

Waiting on a refund for flights to Poland in May and also flights in August to Portugal that they cancelled about 5 weeks ago.

I will be very cautious about booking with Ryan Air in the future too. They’d have to be at least half the price of their competitors / or be the absolute only option, I’d actually be happier to move dates to avoid booking with them again. They’ve behaved appallingly in comparison with their competitors.

Just wanted to add in here, not sure if it's already been said, you can do a charge back with your bank for a debit card as well as a credit card. I requested a charge back for my flights after spending ages trying to get in touch with Ryanair and it was processed quickly.

TazSyd · 16/07/2020 21:12

Doesn’t a charge back have to to be done in 3 months?

Cookies47 · 16/07/2020 21:41

I got my money back in 4 weeks by going through PayPal when Ryanair refused to be contactable! :)

@loadypoady did the 5-7 days refund ever materialise?

Anybody else have any updates?

I finally got through to someone after an endless battle of pressing this and that, they confirmed I was still in the refund queue and we'd have the money by end of this month. Fingers crossed but not holding my breath!

Still waiting on a refund for flights from March booked directly with Ryanair.

Tried Live Chat twice who were useless and just kept trying to offer me the vouchers.

Also tried a chargeback with my credit card who initially refunded me, but took the money back again when Ryanair provided them with proof that they'd sent me a voucher (which I always said I didn't want). Funny how Ryanair had the time/staff to deal with that but not with my sodding refund.

@boredwithit
Yes I’m pleased to report it did materialise.
I’ve seen since on a forum that they should have also refunded the outward leg as it was on the same booking reference (it still flew to Spain when they were locked down). The person seemed sure and said it had also been on the Martin Lewis site.
I’ve lost the will to live with it now as I got ours back minus insurance excess but lost out on the DS and DD flight as they did not have insurance. They always purchase that as they are due to go on holiday as youngsters do.
Good luck everyone still in the refund process.
