Would you book a holiday for November?

DH’s holiday is allocated by the company he works for, he has a week off in November. We have found a really good deal to Egypt, somewhere we would both love to go. Do you think travel will be pretty much back to normal by then, we could just wait but concerned the price will go up if we do making it unaffordable for us.

Trailfinders are launching a COVID19 protected travel insurance policy from 22nd June. Might be worth waiting and seeing exactly what they cover and don’t.

We may well be able to travel by then but with the FCO guidance remaining at basically do not travel, I really wouldn’t book anything until you know either a) travel is definitely going ahead or b) you can insure against it not going ahead otherwise you stand to lose a lot of money.

I agree with PP, don't book anything until the FCO guidance changes. The FCO guidance of 'essential travel only' effectively invalidates any travel insurance. People keep going on about the 14-day quarantine, but for people wanting to go away on holiday, that's just a red-herring really. It's actually the FCO advice that dictates whether they can go or not.

I'm desperate to book a holiday for August, but I'm sitting tight until FCO guidance changes, and even then, I'll be ringing my travel insurance to check I'm covered before I book anything.

We had a pre Covid booked holiday for November, hopefully we will be able to go, but who knows. TUI have stated they are going to start flying to certain destinations from July for package holidays pending the travel restrictions being relaxed.

Insurance wise we booked ours with Staysure who have now informed us that they are providing cover for Coronavirus as and when the restrictions are lifted. They will provide Emergency Medical cover whilst on holiday if you catch the virus and require hospital treatment I believe, but this would need checking before purchasing. No cover in the UK for cancellation though which I suspect will be the same with must insurers moving forward, however at least it is some peace of mind whilst on holiday.
