Caravan park holiday - is it that bad?

I'm considering booking a few days at a Haven type caravan park with my mum and 3 kids (baby, toddler, 4 year old). Basically for various reasons, my husband's job, covid, age of kids we're not going to do a family holiday this year, but would like to take this kids to the seaside for a few days at least. So looking for budget, easy options.

I've not been on a holiday like this though since I was a kid. I know it's not gonna be Center Parcs, but am I going to hate it?

I wouldn't be using any of the facilities, just going to the beach, cooking in the caravan.

Is it noisy at night, can you get to sleep?

Are the caravans hideously hot and stuffy if the weather is hot?

Is it realistic to go and not use any facilities, just to bring your own food and go to the beach every day?

You mean you had passes on your order and didn't pay for them, putting you in breach of contract as the balance wasn't paid? Or something else? Maybe you need to explain what happened otherwise you could alarm people unnecessarily.

Hi there MissA.....I did not want the passes which was optional under the sun holiday scheme which i have used for years, so paid the whole holiday plus electric/gas, minus the pass cost of four people, at £24. I then got an email today saying my holiday would be cancelled the next day, unless I contacted them about passes. I did contact them and holiday is safe now. I do not need to pay for passes. But this is a new thing as if I had not been reading my emails, my holiday would have been cancelled, so yes, it is an alarming thought and you should watch out if you do not take passes.

The hoburne sites are lovely - I would recommend Naish. But it's a similar price to haven as it does have facilities.

Go for a park with no pool to save money.

I can’t bear caravan holidays but I really value space.

We go on caravan park holidays. My kids love being on beach, adventure playground, pool etc. The tackier the better as far as my kids are concerned. We've enjoyed smaller ones without the add ons too. It saves some cash. A luxury cottage would be wasted on my kids.

I love caravan holidays as it leaves you free to plan your holiday fun, (rather than a hotel or B& B) and this will be our first for 2 years due to covid. We are going to Lake district next month, and got an extra wide berth caravan. Always found the price good by using the sun newspaper tokens which saves on cost. You get either Monday to Friday, or Friday to Monday. we always take the former.

We had lovely holidays with the little ones at a private caravan park in Swanage, so much nicer than expected.

Yes, though, it was hot.

We went last year. It's no different imo to any self catering holiday. I'd reconsider using the facilities though. We used the outdoor and indoor pool and the DC did lots of activities which they loved including crafts, climbing, mini golf etc. My DD especially loved it
