Scotland or Switzerland next August

Wigwams in Scotland or Eurocamping in Switzerland?

Which would you prefer?

Switzerland - at least it is warm when it rains there and you don't have such a problem with midges.

Switzerland, every time - but then we're biassed

I don't mind the weather (generally).

Not sure about the midges.

Both look beautiful.

Switzerland will cost twice as much as Scotland.

I think, much as I love Scotland, you could easily end up with seeing just the inside of the wigwam if next summer is like this one....

We had a week in Scotland (Isle of Mull) this year and last year (both July/August). We scarcely saw any rain and no midges.

I think it's all just a myth to keep the crowds away

We had a fabulous time - loved it!

Having said that I like my home comforts on holiday and like a dwelling with walls, a dishwasher, w/m and tumble drier!

Switzerland - Likely to be peeing down in Scotland

You can buy huge Toblerones here too you know (Asda sell them).

Also lovely tablet & fudge & whisky liqueurs & Cairn O Mohr rhubarb wine (that I'm drinking now) & gorgeous salmon & oatcakes to put it on and . . .

And a wigwam sounds fab - whereabouts are you considering going?

Not really sure yet.

I know the lads would love the wigwams. They'd love to camp, but I don't do less than a eurocamp-style tent (you know, with electric fridge for the vino etc etc).

Switzerland. And it's not that expensive except we had to pay road tax for a day trip

Scotland, without a shadow of a doubt. They have Orkney Fudge, not just in Orkney either! It's worth driving 500 miles just for Orkney Fudge. Trust me. Fecking Toblerone? pah

Tinker you only pay to go on the motorways. Hire cars have it included.

We'd be using our own car...

Liz - we only went to Basle/Basel. Don't think there was enough time to go on a motorway, just a hop across the border. Basel very nice though.

ah the border crossing you used might have technically been a motorway(Green signs) but you don't have to buy a Vignette unless you plan to use them within CH.
