Wigwams in Scotland or Eurocamping in Switzerland?

Which would you prefer?

Switzerland - at least it is warm when it rains there and you don't have such a problem with midges.

LIZS · 22/09/2007 18:21

Switzerland, every time - but then we're biassed

unknownrebelbang · 22/09/2007 18:23

I don't mind the weather (generally).

Not sure about the midges.

Both look beautiful.

Switzerland will cost twice as much as Scotland.

oh hum.

OP posts:
LIZS · 22/09/2007 18:30

really?

NadineBaggott · 22/09/2007 18:36

Scotland is beautiful but Switzerland beautifuller

Tamum · 22/09/2007 18:44

I think, much as I love Scotland, you could easily end up with seeing just the inside of the wigwam if next summer is like this one....

roisin · 22/09/2007 18:58

We had a week in Scotland (Isle of Mull) this year and last year (both July/August). We scarcely saw any rain and no midges.

I think it's all just a myth to keep the crowds away

We had a fabulous time - loved it!

Having said that I like my home comforts on holiday and like a dwelling with walls, a dishwasher, w/m and tumble drier!

Lilymaid · 22/09/2007 20:26

Scottish midges

unknownrebelbang · 23/09/2007 11:51

Yes Lizs, rough estimates only at this stage of course.

Lol Roisin I can manage without my home comforts occasionally (as long as I plan).

NB, that's what I was thinking.

Switzerland - Likely to be peeing down in Scotland

kindersurprise · 23/09/2007 22:59

Switzerland, you can buy huuuge toblerones there.

unknownrebelbang · 23/09/2007 23:00

Don't bribe me with toblerone!!!

OP posts:
GreebosWhiskers · 23/09/2007 23:14

Scotland, Scotland, Scotland - but then I'm biased too

You can buy huge Toblerones here too you know (Asda sell them).

Also lovely tablet & fudge & whisky liqueurs & Cairn O Mohr rhubarb wine (that I'm drinking now) & gorgeous salmon & oatcakes to put it on and . . .

GreebosWhiskers · 23/09/2007 23:14

And a wigwam sounds fab - whereabouts are you considering going?

unknownrebelbang · 23/09/2007 23:15

Ah that's better.

I need some balance to this debate, lol.

OP posts:
unknownrebelbang · 23/09/2007 23:18

Not really sure yet.

I know the lads would love the wigwams. They'd love to camp, but I don't do less than a eurocamp-style tent (you know, with electric fridge for the vino etc etc).

OP posts:
Tinker · 23/09/2007 23:22

Switzerland. And it's not that expensive except we had to pay road tax for a day trip

FabulousKbear · 23/09/2007 23:24

Scotland, without a shadow of a doubt. They have Orkney Fudge, not just in Orkney either! It's worth driving 500 miles just for Orkney Fudge. Trust me. Fecking Toblerone? pah

unknownrebelbang · 24/09/2007 18:14

orkney fudge.....

toblerone.....

tablet....

OMG, how do I choose? lol

OP posts:
LIZS · 24/09/2007 20:24

Tinker you only pay to go on the motorways. Hire cars have it included.

unknownrebelbang · 24/09/2007 21:25

We'd be using our own car...

OP posts:
Tinker · 24/09/2007 23:25

Liz - we only went to Basle/Basel. Don't think there was enough time to go on a motorway, just a hop across the border. Basel very nice though.

LIZS · 25/09/2007 09:04

ah the border crossing you used might have technically been a motorway(Green signs) but you don't have to buy a Vignette unless you plan to use them within CH.
