How do you know if your holiday is cancelled?

If your holiday company doesn't contact you at all prior to your departure date, how do you know that your holiday is cancelled? Or more specifically, how do you know that the company considers the holiday cancelled? I am thinking here of a major package villa holiday supplier. No way to contact them as the phone cuts off after being on hold for 20 minutes and they are not responding to emails. All the online advice I can find is about "If your holiday is cancelled....".

Sorry I forgot all about this thread. We received a refund invoice by email 7 days after departure for full refund of Villa flights bags seat selection. So all money paid will be refunded. It will go back on credit card and apparently can them be transferred by cc company to bank account. The only money not received was car hire as that was separate but they have contacted us and quoted 20 working days for refund. Hope that helps.

We are with these guys. We are villa only. They are behaving appallingly.

They cancelled our holiday because we didn't pay our balance eve though their own tweets said they would be in touch to discuss options. We then managed to track them Down and were given a verbal agreement that if we paid our balance they would refund us if we were unable to go due to the virus. This was also stated on their social media

Now they have changed the goal posts. They are only refunding villa and flight packages because our villa is available and it's our problem we can't get to it (jet2 cancelled flights yesterday) They have said they have no idea where people are travelling from so they can't possibly judge who needs a refund!!!

Their next ploy is not sending out villa details before you travel so even if you find a way to cross Europe you have no entry details or contacts. So you could turn up and find your villa locked up or perhaps even find it's been let out to someone else. So of course you don't go and then that's also your fault!

I'm disgusted by them and I hope they get what's coming to them.

First part of refund received today. It was the second payment which we made to them so the balance. Just awaiting deposit back now. Credit card comp will transfer to nominated bank account.

Ahh....a partial refund so far then....I think they are playing fast and loose...

Both now received. Came back in the 2 amounts we paid so like they reversed the deposit and balance back to us if that makes sense. Hopefully rebook when things settle!

There is a VP campaign group on Facebook. A Which? Magazine journalist is a member and she wrote the article on VP.

We are now two weeks past departure and still no word from Villa plus, but I complained on a review site and they responded to say they were sorry they hadn't managed to get to me yet. So the whole wait ten days for a refund thing is nonsense. No response to any other form of communication with them. Which is ridiculous. You have to leave a bad review on a public site to get them to even acknowledge you.
