Not really. I looked at driving to camp on the west coast and the ferry crossing was over £200. Takes away the value of camping.

Lots of equally beautiful places to see in England/Scotland/Wales.

NewAccountForCorona · 10/06/2020 19:47

Not at the moment - if you travel to Ireland from the UK you have to quarantine for 14 days, stay in one place, indoors.

Wouldn't be much of a holiday.

Also, the rain Grin

Cleebope2 · 10/06/2020 19:49

There’s no quarantine between UK and Ireland. It’s the Common Travel Area.

NewAccountForCorona · 10/06/2020 19:54

There is, it's nothing to do with the Common Travel Area Hmm.

The UK can set the laws for Irish people coming in to the UK (and they have decided on free travel), but it's up to Ireland to decide who can come into the country.

www.gov.ie/en/publication/e885b2-covid-19-coronavirus-travel-advice/#:~:text=Public%20health%20advice%20for%20passengers - this advice applies to everyone, wherever they are travelling from.

Public health advice for passengers arriving into Ireland. Passengers arriving into Ireland from overseas are advised to self-isolate for 14 days on entry into the State

Self-isolation means completely avoiding contact with other people and is more stringent than the stay at home measures applying to the wider public.

There is the way into to Ireland , not returning from the UK

theinvisablewoman · 10/06/2020 20:55

Think I'm asking because I am longing to go

Cleebope2 · 14/06/2020 16:09

You can avoid self isolation by entering Ireland via NI and crossing the border.

missyB1 · 14/06/2020 16:14

Not for me thanks, it’s expensive and wet.

piccalilliLily · 14/06/2020 17:16

I must admit after 3 months with the famalam 🙄😬 and exhausted after 3 months of doubled working hours (keyworker), I could really fancy an extended visit to my old schoolmate who owns a pub
In a small village in Cork. I could see meself isolated in the pub for a fortnight.

Cloudspotter · 15/06/2020 14:47

@piccalilliLily

That made me laugh, sounds good.

Funnily enough I was mulling over whether this will be the year we take the plunge and visit Ireland. I've never been and most people I know, including me, have a lot of Irish heritage.

My mum swears it's the only place she's ever felt at home. We're quite laid back.

The thing putting me off is the rain. I'm not sure I could bear to leave the usually sunny summer of the South East and head somewhere cold and wet. Confused
