Please -- a nice Woolley Grange type place, but not quite so 'spensive?

Dh's plans for his 40th have gone badly wrong through no fault of his own, and the poor love is so disappointed. I'd really like to book us all somewhere for the weekend of 5th/6th October within reasonable travelling distance of London (ie. not Fowey) that isn't going to end up costing the best part of £1K.

'Us' in this context + 2 adults and three children from 12 to 3yo. My ideal weekend away does not involve sharing a room with my children, lovely though they are.

Can this be done?

could you try and book interconnecting rooms somewhere ? then you get your own room and they get theirs, but you are not too far apart. We did this at the kettering park hotel (weird location i know), but the hotel was lovely, pool, gym, sauna, lovely restaurent. Near to bowling type things and kettering park (great day out). They do deals. Wld be about 1.5 hrs from lodnon i guess depending on where you are.

The Evesham Hotel is nice if a bit wacky. Great restaurant for the grown ups & very child friendly (loads of toys & swimming pool)

frogs · 18/09/2007 22:26

Ooh, the Evesham looks nice, will phone them in the morning.

Any other ideas?

Evesham is great - owner is as mad as a hatter (in a nice way!) & it has a wine list thats is 3 huge photo albums !!
I believe some of the rooms are themed too - don't let the wacky website put you off

bossykate · 19/09/2007 16:09

The Priory Bay hotel will tick your boxes - though as well as being less expensive it's also that bit less good in terms of food and decor... but i don't mind as i would do anything rather than sleep in the same room with my kids!

have had two very happy stays there so more than happy to answer any questions.

Thanks guys -- will try these suggestions some time, but have just been offered use of a flat in Paris by lovely friend of my mum's, so that's our immediate weekend break requirements taken care of.

cod

what would you like to know?

giddybiddy · 23/09/2007 18:38

Completely agree re Evesham, owner is irritating and food mediocre....... Have heard Priory Bay is lovely though......

AnneT · 01/10/2007 10:23

Hi can anybody help me find a family-friendly hotel in Paris? Going at the end of October and need somewhere for a 3 and a 5 year old. Thanks

bootsmonkey · 01/10/2007 10:58

Cod - Priory Bay Hotel is lovely. There is a hotel and also self catering accomodation inhte ground which sweep down to Priory Bay, which is my favourite beach of all time - long and sandy backing on to woods. The food, as I remember is good, with a good wine list. In summmer there is an Oyster/seafood cafe tucked half way down to the beach. There is a pool and games room. Fab! The IOW at its best!

bootsmonkey · 01/10/2007 11:00

here

bootsmonkey · 01/10/2007 11:02

Actually I don't think the website does it justice...

AnneT · 01/10/2007 11:06

Just looked back on this chat and what we really need is inter-connecting rooms in a Paris hotel. Can't share! Any ideas?

bossykate · 01/10/2007 11:08
