Experiences of Jet2 when cancelling please

Hi.

So I am asking in behalf of my family member who are not on here.

They have their holiday booked for the end of August with Jet2 and even if their holiday was to go ahead they no longer want to go. It wont be much of a holiday with all the restrictions in place and they do not feel comfortable travelling whilst things are still like they are.

As they have over 100 days until they depart I understand they are able to cancel their holidays and only lose their deposit. It this correct or are admin fees also charged on top?

Their worry is that they have paid a further 600 more than their deposit, and the final 600 is due in june, which they do not want to pay. If they cancel will they also that extra 600 they have paid or will that be refunded to them, and only the deposit be retained?

They paid a low deposit of £60 per person. They are concerned that Jet2 could end up saying that a full deposit will be due as they will not be eligible for the low deposit. That is just them overworrying but I thought if you paid a low deposit then cannot suddenly make it more if you need to cancel.

Any advice will he greatly appreciated. Its causing an awful lot of worry and they want to cancel sooner rather than later once they understand what will happen to what they have paid so far.

Thanks in advance

Jet2 are very clear on their website that they are contacting people due to travel before 17 June as their priority so there phone lines are currently shut.

DD cancelled with them a couple of days ago, she used the website, hit cancel, it checked she knew she'd lose her deposit then went through. She got email confirmation straight away.

RedWillowWreckless · 09/05/2020 20:14

You could try that and not confirm the cancel if it doesn't mention the further £600 being refunded.

Thank you. I thought this would be the case. Will tell them to give it a go and if it's more that their deposit they can decide.

Thank you

They arent allowing online cancellations any more. You have to email them to discuss your options

Sorry, didn't realise that.

Good luck.

@RedWillowWreckless

Ive also been told that any further payment made is considered towards your deposit, and in the subject title it does state payment confirmation towards your deposit.

Had your daughter only paid her deposit or any more?

She'd only paid the £60 per person. It asked her to confirm she knew she'd lose £120 before confirming but understand if you can't cancel online that's not much use to you.

I cancelled ours last Tuesday, was due to go in July and had paid deposit only. Just cancelled on their website as if not the payment would have been automatically taken next week. It was a bit awkward to find the cancel option. Are you sure they aren't allowing it anymore?

SpideyMom · 09/05/2020 22:10

I've asked them to check. Their last paying is due to be taken in a June so around 4 weeks away. It comes up with a message that they are no longer accepting cancellations online and you need to email them to discuss your options.

So they have emailed them. I wonder if its because they've paid an additional payment ontop of their deposit

If you have paid extra money on top of your deposit, you do get it back. We cancelled our July holiday this week, we actually used an e-mail address that I found on Facebook to cancel and it was cancelled very quickly. We had initally e-mailed 10 days before but we were coming close to the 70 cut off for just losing deposit so I was getting concerned. Jet2 are excellent.

SpideyMom · 16/05/2020 21:23

Thanks @thefemaleJoshLyman would you mind PMing my the email?

I was going to Greece on June 1st. Jet 2 cancelled the g
Flights and emailed me to say they were dealing with people in order of travel dates. Last week they got in touch and said they would be refunding me and the money would be in my bank in a few days. It was, in fact, there the same day.

I am very grateful as I was resigned to losing it.

SpideyMom · 30/05/2020 12:14

I see it from all sides. And naturally they will be dealing with holidays in order of travel.

Jet2 did contact confirming this and saying they will be in touch with their options. My family member would rather transfer their holiday. I think they are more worried about having to go on a holiday they no longer want to go on given the circumstances. They have tried to cancel many times but are still waiting, but their holiday is in August so it's likely going to take much longer for them to get it sorted.
It looks like they are set to lose their deposit, but to be honest, as annoying as they would be I'd rather lose that than go
