BA food on flights has 10 E numbers in it! Great for your kids...

I flew with BA on a short haul flight this week. On both legs of the trip the sandwiches provided had no less than 10 E numbers in. In light of recent research around how some e-nos send kids hyper AND the fact the last place you want a hyper kid is on a flight, this strikes me as appalling.

I am thinking of writing to Mr Eddington at BA to complain! Am I being unreasonable?!?!

Maybe they need to use loads of e-nos to keep the food fresh for the whole flight or something?!?

did you noitce which E numbers they were?

Some e numbers are prefectly natural... a plain salad contains e numbers, which is just a code for some of the natural contents of the fruit and veg

Yes, exactly, one e-number is ascorbic acid, which is vit C, another is tocopherol, which is vit E. I do wish they'd write vit C and E instead of the chemical name or E-number for it as it does scare people unnecessarily.

I was once served a dried apricot with a bite taken out of it on a BA flight (business class).

Now I always take my own food.

Good point - maybe I should check them against the lists of bad e-nos printed in those articles last week

Even water has an e number.
And only a couple of colouring e numbers have been associated with alledged hyperactivity, not all the hundreds of e numbers there are.

I just never expect airline food to be particularly good - or tempting.

Think yourself lucky, on Virgin they include a packet of Skittles as part of the children's meal

Budababe · 17/09/2007 12:46

Ooh - better order DH the kiddie meal - he LOVES Skittles!

Rytzy · 17/09/2007 12:48

Gosh, we never eat in planes. The only thing i touch is my own bottled water or the airline's booze. I eat my own food.
