what "toiletries" do you take to Majorca? Fed up with taking everything but kitchen sink!

going to Magalluf on Sunday. have been millions of times and i know where all supermarkets are etc. Do i take just the bare necessities or take every type of plaster;shampoo etc. with me? Do I just take the essentials? Gotx3 kids. Never know whether to take the lot or just take deodorant toothpaste etc.???

I would just take the bare necessities, especially if you know the local supermarkets. When we go to Spain the local supermarket is fab so I only take what we need immediately then buy Spanish branded shower gel etc which I leave behind as it is so cheap anyway.

I take my make up and the essential toiletries (shampoo, toothpaste, shower gel, deodorant, sun protector, etc). It is not about what is available or not in Majorca but about not wasting valuable time looking for essentials.

cutekids · 16/09/2007 20:38

so i shouldn't feel guilty about not having calpol, plasters etc.???

OP posts:
Isababel · 16/09/2007 20:40

Get the calpol then . Plasters, you can easily leave with out (they get soggy in the water anyway)

MrsSpoon · 16/09/2007 20:41

I would probably take the Calpol just in case and like Isababel says it would depend on whether you want to spend your time in the supermarket whilst there or not. I always figure that I'm going to be in the supermarket every couple of days (if not every day ) anyway so pick up the bits and pieces we need whilst there.

cutekids · 16/09/2007 20:42

Don't know why i get so guilty... i know full well i can get everything there.but in my head i'm thinking..."But if they fall off the steps off the plane, if they get a cough...."!!!Is that just me?

cutekids · 16/09/2007 20:45

believe me....make up is def.a must!!!Plus contact lens solution!!!

OP posts:
MrsSpoon · 16/09/2007 20:46

I take my own make-up too but a very pared down version, try to get away with as few products as necessary.

cutekids if they fall down the plane steps someone at the airport will have a plaster!

If arriving late I would make it a priority to make sure you buy some bottled water, although you probably know that anyway. Nothing worse than arriving after everything has closed, tired and thirsty with no water.

cutekids · 16/09/2007 20:48

mrs spoon, i'm always in the s,market,(usually looking for cheap alcohol i can slip into my bag!)

Isababel · 16/09/2007 20:49

well, thinking like that you also need to get ID bracelets in case they get lost, an alarm in case your room is broken into, take a first aid course (they are going in the water so an absolute must) and a portable ladder in case of a hotel fire.

TBH I have to carry a bag of prized posessions whose loss would ruin the trip, so if you really don't need to, relax and enjoy the trip

cutekids · 16/09/2007 20:50

SO.... Tpaste,deo,sham,cond,deod.is enough?

MrsSpoon · 16/09/2007 20:50

Isababel · 16/09/2007 20:51

cutekids · 16/09/2007 20:51

cutekids, I prefer to put it a little more delicately, I enjoy sampling the fine local wines and soaking up the regional cultural differences as they are portrayed through their alcoholic beverages!

cutekids · 16/09/2007 20:58

I've got about half a dozen bottles in the cupboard in Spain, hopefully they will still be good for drinking next month.
