Jet2 Balance Due

mummy2oneandtwo · 26/04/2020 08:07

My balance with Jet2 is due to be paid on the 30th, just under £4,000.

I have no intention of paying the balance as there is no way the holiday will be going ahead in June and I don't want to then try and get all that money back.

However their emails say they will automatically take the amount from the card used to pay the deposit.

I've had no luck contacting Jet2 and I can't see any way in the Manage My Booking section to make them 'forget' the card I used.

Tried to call Barclays to block the payment but 2 hours on hold and the line disconnected. I can only now think of reporting the card lost/stolen so the card is invalid.

Has anyone had similar and how did you get around it?

Thank you!

@christravelwizard We are flying to Majorca on the 25th June, one week after they claim to be operating flights again...but I just can't see that happening.

I have emailed them, sent messages via Facebook messenger and posted on their public wall I do not authorise the balance being taken, but along with another 12,000 messages, I feel mine will not be acknowledged.

Change it to next year then you won’t loose any money
Don’t pay the balance then you will loose your deposit and are breaking the terms and conditions of your booking
Try going on their Facebook page and persevere with the phone they have many people home working

I've just gone into my booking (Greece, late July) and there is a 'cancel my booking' link right at the bottom of the page.

mummy2oneandtwo · 26/04/2020 17:17

I have the option to click on 'cancel booking' but when the page loads it just says I can't cancel online and I need to email x

The last day for me to cancel my 3rd July holiday without paying the balance was last Friday, I cancelled online on Thursday - have you possibly passed the date you can cancel online?

mummy2oneandtwo · 26/04/2020 20:57

Maybe 🤷🏼‍♀️ I really don't know, I've been hoping to actually have a response from them but maybe I've given them too much time and now lost that option Confused

On your booking email it should say when the last date you can cancel with just a loss of deposit is - after that you can't just cancel, you owe than a percentage of the holiday cost, it's detailed on the website.

Has anyone got through to Jet2 by phone? Every number I try is a re order message!

Ilikefresias · 26/04/2020 21:10

Recorded !!

Their phone lines are shut, they are calling people with holidays booked before 17th June, it's on their homepage.

We had two holidays booked with Jet2. First one was a family holiday booked for Easter week and when cancelled they refunded it immediately and offered a rebook if required. The second was for DS in July after exams. We had only paid £60 deposit so took the decision not to pay the balance and forfeited the holiday. Interestingly they have emailed and subsequently offered a free rebook for him but we turned that down.

To be honest I've been quite impressed by them as opposed to friends who have booked with Tui who can't get further than a long hold on the phone.

My brother works for jet2 in an operational role, 90% of employees are furloughed so response could be slow.

beakyboo10 · 27/04/2020 14:39

You need to download the app on your mobile and it gives you an option to cancel, there is no option to cancel with the desktop site as it just gives you the email address.

Our full balance was due in May (for July holiday) and the phone lines were closed and when I emailed the advised not to cancel. Someone on Facebook told me about the app so I downloaded it, lost my deposit and that's all as I had given them more than 70 days notice

mummy2oneandtwo · 27/04/2020 15:21

Update - I have spoke with Barclaycard who have put an order on my account to not let Jet2 take any payments, and if they do manage it, Barclaycard will reimburse. They have also completely changed my card, so that it has a whole new number, not just changing the last few digits which is what would happen if I did the standard 'lost card' submission.

Still nothing from Jet2, but at least now I have stopped them taking the money. Thank you everyone for your replies.

@mummy2oneandtwo, well done! I checked and there are no flights planned for June yet.

Easilyanxious · 27/04/2020 22:03

Having this dilemma due to go on holiday mid July don't expect it to happen but as of now only up to sometime in June that they are saying no holidays . We are hoping a decision gets made and we can get our money back otherwise we have decided to just loose our deposit, otherwise it's thousands to wait to get back and if by some slim chance travel is allowed with lots of restrictions etc we don't think that will be an enjoyable holiday . We would be happy to move to next year but jet 2 don't offer holiday we would want and we literally only went with them as was originally with Thomas cook and they were only ones that had hotel left but airports they fly from aren't really convenient for us .
