Evesham Hotel - Anyone been ?

Seen this hotel on MN & are looking for a weekend break probably in November, for us & DS (4). I've looked at the hotels website & can't decide if it looks a bit dippy ! (i.e. is it fun or just a bit odd !?). We're after reliable baby listening + decent restaurant for grown up evenings, with stuff to see in the area in the daytime ! Anyone got any other recommendations??

Hi whizzz, my dh will be in Evesham everyday next week. I could ask him if he'd go and have a nose around the hotel for you if you want (he might even be able to get some sneaky pictures).

Where abouts in evesham is it ??? We have been there loads but don't remember the hotel.

Ailsa · 08/10/2004 22:24

it's on the opposite side of the river to the main town.

Yeah just had a look at the website.

We must have seen it but never been in so can't tell you anything i'm afraid.

We stayed at the Riverside hotel many moons ago, before kids.

I love evesham think it's sweet and my kids love the band in the park in the summer.

I haven't been to it, but I've noticed that it gets a really positive write-up in the Good Hotel Guide every year. We have never been disappointed with the hotels that they have recommended.

Sorry it was Waterside hotel we stayed at not riverside.

I know someone who's been (though pre-children) and thought it was great - something to do with cool bathrooms and whiskey I think!

brother and sil have been and loved it... apprently the owners made a big fuss of their ds...
(+ it must have all the home comforts too otherwise they wouldn't have gone!)

Thanks all - its just that the website has no photos, just cartoon illustrations which we thought was a bit odd !! I always like to see what the rooms are like ! We'll give it serious thought this weekend !

My DH has stayed there and came back full of praise. Food good, wine list superb and extensive. I think he said the owner was fun and a bit odd - kind of Basil Fawlty but in a good way. DH also talks about us going there with DD so must be good. Take the plunge and let us know!!

Hope this isn't too late! We've been several times, for meals and once for a stay-over for a birthday celebration. It is wonderful. Grown -ups feel pampered, excellent food and surroundings. The garden is full of stuff for kids, huge trampoline, swings, slide, putting etc. There is a corridor in the hotel full of toys and an indoor pool for guests to use! The owner is great fun and the toilets are full of interesting things, i.e talking ducks and farting scarecrows.
My children love it, esp. as they will cook anything for the kids and it is priced reasonably. The first time we went, my daughter, then 3, was going through a cold pasta, cucumber and sardine phase! They provided her with exactly that! My son (10) loves going too, he likes the fun of it and the fact that it is a "proper" restaurant with good food.
Can't recommend enough.
Enjoy........
