Hey
I crashed into a garden this evening and shocked
Myself. I was coming round spend in country near my house and it wa tighter than I thought and I went through somebody's garden hedge. I reversed out and got stuck a bit but after a bit of manoeuvring I got out and drove off shaking.

I've never crashed before and nobody came out of their house. It was dark
Any advise?
Keep thinking police going to turn up at my house

Had you had a drink?

Seventyone72seventy3 · 29/03/2020 09:16

How can you crash into a hedge? You were either drunk or not in control? Either way, please go back and put this right. Someone crashed into my parked car once and drove off to leave me to pay - took me months. At least do the right thing now.

Was also wondering if op had had a drink. Certainly police will. You do not know what damage you may have caused and the property owner , if they need to claim, will be hit by it as a loss from uninsured driver.

Travel advice Grin
Go and leave your details, they may not open the door. Report it to the police too.

Mitzdob · 29/03/2020 09:28

It's a hedge! Chill.

Pop back later today and see if there is much damage - if not, move on.

If there is, knock on the door and apologise. Say you didn't stop at the time because it was late.

No one is gonna worry about a hedge. X

What an offensive thing to say, especially with the X at the end. All a big joke, is it?

Ring the police this morning

Failure to stop at the scene of an accident
Failure to report an accident
(Potentially) driving without due care and attention.

Get it sorted ASAP and you may be in less trouble.

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 29/03/2020 09:45

Did you really damage someone's hedge and garden and just drive off again? I find that really hard to believe. Had you been drinking and didn't want to get breathalysed? Who is going to pay to fix the damage you caused?

The very least you could do is return to the house, apologise profusely for not stopping at the time and not reporting the accident and offer to pay for the damage.

playthestation · 29/03/2020 09:50

Had you been drinking?

How hard was the impact? You will need to inform your insurance company asap, contact the house owners to give them your details and have your car checked.

Why are you scared of the police?

littleduckeggblue · 29/03/2020 09:50

As if you just drove away?!?!

AreWeAnywhereNear · 29/03/2020 10:58

I'm speechless....

  1. What on Earth was essential about your journey at that time in the morning?
  1. You were clearly speeding on a road you didn't know
  1. You damaged someone's property and drive off
  1. You thought the best topic was 'Travel Advice'

Clearly you are a 'I don't even know a word for you' stupid, careless, idiotic, and I am not speechless!

mencken · 29/03/2020 12:57

driving anxious and tired, eh? Lucky you didn't kill or disable yourself or anyone else.

do the right thing and contact the people whose house you have damaged, and the police. And stay off the road unless you are fit to drive.

Notverygrownup · 29/03/2020 13:06

Pop back and leave a note with your contact details. I can understand you not wanting to knock at a door late at night at the moment, when people might be self isolating.

FallonSwift · 29/03/2020 16:18

No one is gonna worry about a hedge.

I suspect you don't understand how expensive hedges can be. And I can assure you I would be very 'worried' (read: furious) if someone demolished part of my hedge, as it helps keep my garden secure for my dogs.
