Eurocamp, Canvas etc - Solo

I am 38 and regularly mainly travel solo (for various reasons I won't bore you with). My last few breaks have been city based, constantly on the go etc etc.

I would love a few days, ideally in France, in nice surroundings, just to sit back, relax, read a book, have a glass of wine, you get the picture, potentially end of April.

I don't really want to be couped up in a hotel room, I want somewhere I can just sit outside in the evening, if it's not too cold!

Which led me to think of Eurocamp and the like. I travelled all over France when I was young with my family staying in mobile homes on campsites and loved it.

Would it look weird if I went there by myself?! The idea of having everything I need in the one place with hopefully a town/place of interest nearby is very appealing.

I won't have a car however.

No it wouldn’t look odd. I think it’s a great idea. It probably wouldn’t get noticed, let alone be at all obvious. Me and my DH have always wandered around Eurocamp style campsites on our own, perhaps on the way to the laundrette, the shop or the take away. And I’ve lost count of the number of times that one of us has taken the dc to the beach for the day whilst the other has enjoyed time with a book or a jigsaw! We stayed at one site and I went off pony trekking a few times but none of my family wanted to do it. Several parks have spas so you could really treat yourself.

I think you are being a little optimistic about being under canvas in April, even in France. I think the evenings will be quite chilly.

Thanks @Ricekrispie22, that's good to know. I'm sure no one will care what I am up to, was only thinking 4 days anyway.

Definitely over optimistic @Ginfordinner! I just fancy the idea of being able to immediately walk outside and go for a wander or sit down rather than be in a hotel room. I'll pack a jumper.

@Ginfordinner Most Eurocamp accommodation is mobile homes and all are fitted with a heater as standard.

I’d definitely recommend Les Sablons in Languedoc as it has an thermal pool complex and a covered pool. There’s an adults-only spa area with jacuzzi pools etc...and a small range of various massages available. It’s only 10 minutes from Beziers airPort and has bike hire, so perfect if you’re not taking a car. What I especially love about it is that it has a crafts area and pottery classes www.les-sablons.com/en/art-classes/ The nearest town is easily walkable.

Fabulous thank you. Les Sablons is on my list, Eurocamp has a list of campsites that don't require a car and this was listed. I googled the weather for last year for the dates I am looking at and it was about 20 degrees. Fine for me, I'm not a massive sun worshipper. Could well be a different story this year however!

Oh yes, mobile home all the way. The tents look not bad though!

I love a mobile home holiday but to be fair in April I would be looking at a nice little apartment somewhere with a balcony, all mod cons and shops and restaurants nearby. End of April, should be reasonable in the South. Some where like Nice, or Antibes, or Montpellier is lovely.
