how do you find hotels with interconnecting rooms?

I want to take the DTs and DD (and of course DH) to Thailand next year. I actually asked a travel agent to help me out finding a hotel that would do a suite or interconnecting rooms for the DTs (who will be 3) to sleep in, even the travel agent had trouble and ended up not ringing me back!!

How do you find out which hotels have this facility so I dont have to trawl through them all individually on the net? Any ideas? I know its a strange question!

One way is when you are looking online to make sure you put in 2 adults and three children and specify one room. This will generally bring up things like mini-suites - finally worked this out long after trying and failing to find a hotel for us all to stopover enroute to our holiday destination - we ended up booking two rooms (which were not interconnecting) and dh and I had to sleep in separate rooms....

I think you need to go to a travel shop and pick up some brochures then read the room tyes in the places you want to stay.

This one is a complete nightmare, as even hotels who you know do interconnecting rooms won't guarantee them 100% if you book with a travel agent. We tried booking through a "personal travel agent" last November when we were coming to Australia for a holiday and she kept telling us hotels x and y have interconnecting rooms, but they won't guarantee them. The only way to do it is to go directly to the hotels (but to be honest you often get a better rate going directly anyway). If you are going to Bangkok I would recommend the Lebua at State Tower (google it) which is an "all suite" hotel. They have amazing 2 bedroom 2 bathroom apartments with your own laundry facitilies and kitchen (fab with kids), and you could have a full on game of footie in the living room (which actually had two sitting areas as well as a dining area). They also ADORE kids (ours are older than yours, they were 13, 8 and 4 when we went through Thailand in June en route to Oz but my 4 year old DD ended up quite spoilt with all the attention she got). We also stayed in a lovely private villa on Koh Tao with it's own tiny little pool if you're heading that direction. CAT me if you need more info. I looked online and identified accommodation I liked the look of then just e-mailed them directly - it was a lot less frustrating than dealing via a third party.

Agree with sunnyd about this - a friend has booked interconnecting or adjacent rooms before and had to go home again because the rooms actually allocated were on different floors

I would google suite or family room and Thailand. I don't know if I would want 3 year olds in their own room, because it would have it's own bathroom and stuff and ds would fiddle with stuff and turn the TV on first thing in the morning.
