Ryanair baggage

We’re flying with Ryanair (yes,I know...) this weekend and hope someone can share their recent experiences.
We have Family Plus which gives us two x 20kg cases for all of us plus one 10kg case each, all of which must go in the hold. This is fine - we have cases of the correct dimensions including handles/wheels etc.
We also have small cabin bag allowances of dimensions 40x20x25cm each. My question is, how (if at all) is this measured? DH has a small rucksack which won’t be full and will be able to be squashed into the dimensions above, and will easily fit under his seat. But will this be OK? I feel crazy for asking but don’t trust Ryanair not to try to make more £ out of us! I also can’t find a weight limit for this bag.
Also, we can take a baby bag of 5kg but can’t find anywhere that states the permitted dimensions. Any ideas?
Thanks.

I think you're ok so long as it can fit under the seat in front. I haven't seen them checking dimensions or weights of the small cabin bag.

They've never measured ours and we fly regularly between here and France.

Hello, I'm a frequent Ryanair traveller (only direct flight back home from London) and as long as it's a small backpack it'll be absolutely fine. They do not take measurements. Ryanair are a lot more relaxed than they used to be. We have had a lot more problems with easyJet.

Oh that’s brilliant, thank you. It’s a 12L one I think, and very soft.
Are they still strict about the dimensions of the hold 10kg bags? We have one that is a smaller volume than the stated measurements, but exceeds the depth. It might go in the measuring crate with a bit of squashing (it’s a hold-all) but don’t want to risk it if they go on anything other than weight.

I think they'd be unlikely to measure hold bags - we've travelled with the 10kg hold luggage a number of times, but ultimately it is at their discretion and your risk.

We flew with them a few days ago. The couple in front had to fit their small cabin bags into the metal frame thing. They didn't fit so they made them check them. If they had squished in it would not have been a problem. We fly frequently with Ryanair and it seems to be luck with who you get but honestly if it will squish in I've never seen them measure any other way. They don't seem to weigh them.

Thanks Rookie, that sounds reassuring.
Only - we only have the very small cabin allowance. The 10kg bag has to go in the hold. My concern would be that they would measure them for dimensions and weight, and if the dimensions were slightly wrong make us pay to check it in as an underweight 20kg bag!

Well I think to be fair to Ryanair, they make their dimensions very clear so when we went recently we took smaller backpacks that did fit their dimensions for cabin baggage. Much better than nasty Flybe who charged us £50 for a bag that I swear I measured and was fine and I think their bag measurer had been altered.
