Finland or Sweden

My in-laws are paying for a big family holiday next year (in summer holidays) and have settled on Finland or Sweden. However they want help organising it. Does anyone have any advice for places to visit? Or has anyone stayed somewhere nice that they would recommend? There will be 8 adults and 6 children ranging from age 1- 10. Likely to be for 2 weeks. Thanks

I visited Uto a few years ago. It's of. the southernmost islands and quite a trip trip with not that many ferries a day. Better to stay closer for those wanting to drop in to the city.

Look at Öland in Sweden, down south and is known for being the sunny island (the Swedish royal family holiday there too). Reasonable accomodation, big Island with plenty to do and lots of restaurants in the main town.

Or Gothenburg, I have southern Swedish family so know less about the Stockholm archipelago although when I've been it's a gorgeous city.

We loved Stenebynas: a farm with just a few beautiful houses and cabins on the shores of a wonderful lake. Lovely for swimming and there were kayaks etc to use. Run by a very nice Swedish family. You need a car, then there are plenty of good day trips.
