Venice carnivale- would you take kids?

Looking for advice from people with experience of Venice.
A bit of a last minute thing but looking at booking for few days over half term. I’ve just realised it’s the carnivale from 8th-15th.

Kids are 8, 12 & 15. Would you?

I would say it is a bonus as in addition to the streets, bridges and palazzos, they get to see one of the most famous carnivals in the world. Some days, at certain hours, squares will be packed, so you will have to avoid those, but it comes and goes. And the shows on the water are great!
Here is a link to the official program so you can plan your day accordingly.

Have fun and enjoy. Might be quite cold and windy in February

At those ages, possibly.

I've seen reports of massively reduced occupancy and hotels at 50% of normal rates this year due to the Corona Virus so it's probably the best opportunity.

That said, when I visited last year it was absolutely packed. Not great for sight seeing.

Thanks all - I’m booking it!

I'm sure your kids will love it. Keep away from St Mark's square and around - it will be unbearably packed - spend time exploring the quieter parts like Canareggio and Castello. Get the vaporetto over to San Giorgo Maggiore and go up the bell tower for an amazing view of the city. Go to Nico's on the Zattere in Dorsoduro for their amazing gianduiotto ice cream. Have fun!
