Holidays

Nashville

Me and DP both have big birthdays coming up, we've decided to have a holiday rather than parties etc. He wants to go to Nashville which I'm fine with but if I'm flying all that way I'd like to see a bit more of the country, we've both been to Florida so not there.

Has anyone been and done a road trip or multi centre holiday? Any ideas where is reasonable to combine with Nashville?

Budget won't be huge but we've got time to save.

I've done lots of road trips and several involving Nashville as I absolutely love it there. You could head to Memphis, particularly if you're into Music. Obviously there's Graceland but also Said n Studios, Stax and Beale Street. It's about a 3 hour drive.

Alternatively you could head east to the Smokey Mountains which isn't much further. Asheville is nice for a place to stay.

New Orleans is only 7 hours away so you could spend a few days driving there.

Savannah is probably around 7 hours too and is lovely.

The possibilities are endless, it just depends how long you have and how much driving you want to do.

Oh and most importantly: don't miss Martin's BBQ in Nashville!

We did a Tennessee road trip - Nashville, Memphis and Chattanooga. Dollywood is worth a visit.

Are you flying in and out of Nashville? If so, you'll probably want to stick to Memphis (3 hours) or maybe Atlanta (4 hours) otherwise you'll have a really long round trip.
If you're using different airports then that obviously opens up a much bigger area. I've lived in Nashville for a long time so if you have any other questions, please feel free to ask!

Memphis, New Orleans, Savannah, even Chicago are do-able driving distance. Depends what you want to do really!
Nashville certainly is an experience, you’ll have a lot fun I’m sure.

Thanks for the ideas, I'm open to flying into Nashville and home from somewhere else, there aren't any direct flights anyway so we have to take two internal flights if we fly in and out of Nashville, so we could swap the inbound or outbound internal flight for a road trip.

We went to Nashville last August. We flew into Nashville and then headed to Pigeon Forge and the Smoky mountains. Then headed over to South Carolina and flew back home from Charlotte.

BA are the only ones that fly direct to Nashville at the mo, but we had connecting flights as the BA were very expensive.
