Would you book to go to Jordan in March?

We’ve wanted to go to Jordan as a couple for ages and have some time in March to go for a week. Would you still book to go with the political situation in the Middle East at the moment?

I think I would wait a little however I was there during the Iraq war and all was normal and no issues with anyone...Previous years I went to Iraq and Syria before any conflicts and again everyone was very nice...only got scammed by one cab driver for about 2 quid over on a fare..It's a lovely country so do try to visit at some point....Petra was amazing.

Jordan is pretty stable. Look at the FO web site for advice.

We just cancelled our Jordan trip in Feb half term because of the political situation. I’m gutted, but it made me nervous reading that tourist attractions and hotels frequented by foreigners are more likely targets at the moment for retaliation. They said that airlines to/from the region are also more likely to be targeted. The fact a plane just mysteriously went down coming out of Tehran this morning just confirms to me that travel to the area is not as safe as usual and perhaps best avoided right now. We have three young children ages 6 and under and I would rather wait a bit and postpone than risk it with them. I say this as someone who happily took my family to Cairo in October half term without batting an eyelid about safety.

We’re off to Israel later this year- maybe going across to visit Jordan but not confirmed yet. Very excited and not currently concerned about travel based on FO advice, but will monitor this. Stay up to date with the TripAdvisor forums for Jordan, to see information from people currently visiting/living there.

I would wait until things settle down. Jordan is amazing - Petra and Wadi Rum in particular - so definitely should be on your bucket list.

I was in Jordan in March last year, great time to go. Warm enough to walk around in t-shirts and jeans, lovely people and the food! You need to have falafel at Hashem if you're in Amman, it's famous. Then just down the street is a Kunafa hole in the wall place, again, very popular.
I live in the ME and have for a long time now (10 years+) so perhaps I'm a bit blasé about travelling around but really, follow FCO travel advice and you'll be fine, they constantly review and renew it even at the slightest hint of a change (I used to work at an Embassy and know the protocol). Our Jordanian driver called Jordan the oasis in the center of a ring of fire.
I realise March is a couple of months away, but if you can keep flexible please don't wait to visit this lovely country.

I'm also hoping to go this March. My problem is finding a tour that doesn't involve sleeping in a tent; I know some of them are apparently well-equipped, but DH & I want hotels.

We're going to Jordan in half term in February. Not worried about it. Taking 2 kids, can't wait.

Jordan is pretty stable and a stabilising influence in the region. Having said that, they’ve taken in rather a lot of refugees from wars in the region. The Foreign Office advice is usually spot on but obviously they don’t have a glass ball - for example their advice on Sri Lanka was very different from when we went in April last year to shortly after we got back! The US launched the recent troubles in Iran so within certain sections of society and returned fighters, tensions might be high. If you’ve not booked I’d be tempted to leave it for a bit. However, I’m really risk adverse when it comes to foreign longhaul travel but wouldn’t think twice about heading into London or Paris! I’m sure you’d be fine & are unlikely to see trouble so go with your gut feel.

I live in Jordan at the moment and it is safe. March is a good time to visit Jordan, weather isn't too hot but still warm enough to swim in the Dead Sea. If you do decide to travel to Jordan I would recommend purchasing the Jordan Pass. This will cost around 70jds but will include your visa, access to Petra and other tourist sites.
