European luxury resorts with teenage girls (15 & 16)?

Looking for somewhere to take our girls next summer - our 16-year-old is not sporty so will need other things to do e.g. decent social activities etc. Ideally all-inclusive, and not Greece which is where we went this year. And not a cruise! All recommendations gratefully received.

Olympic lagoon resort in Ayia Napa Cyprus is very nice, lots to do and close to the beach also.

lawn · 09/01/2020 19:51

Great thanks we were looking at that one, useful to get a recommendation

Try Terra Natura in Benidorm (I know!) it a 10 min drive outside the main area and is very much Centre Parks in the sun, it was clean all inclusive lovely bungalows, water park and zoo on site and free admission

peachypetite · 09/01/2020 19:56

Madeira is far too quiet for teens!

lovelyupnorth · 11/01/2020 21:35

My only thoughts is AI is killing tourism in so many resorts.

lawn · 11/01/2020 22:41

Thanks all, v helpful

Why because they make it easier for families with children? Meals are so much easier AI, not so fussed on the drinks

lovelyupnorth · 12/01/2020 08:17

@GreenTulips

AI is stopping going out and spending exploring and just eating and drinking in the hotel.

DropZoneOne · 12/01/2020 08:25

Ikos Andalusia - it's opening this year, first one outside of Greece

lawn · 12/01/2020 09:20

@lovelyupnorth I realise it wouldn’t be MN without someone popping up with unsolicited judgement instead of answering the question, but please be assured I’m aware of the relative impacts of various kinds of tourism. All travel is damaging in one way or another, and on this particular occasion, for a number of reasons, this kind of holiday is what we are seeking for summer 2020. Do feel free to start your own thread to educate MN as a whole on the ethics of international travel, economics and tourism however.

Great, thanks @DropZoneOne - hasn’t heard about that one - will research

@lawn

You said all recommendations received. I’m recommending you don’t do AI.

Good luck.

Second looking at Ikos Andalusia. It's our plan for this year, also don't want to go to Greece again but loved the Ikos resorts we've stayed in there.

lawn · 12/01/2020 09:29

Ikos does look v good. Just checking out teen activities in Andalusia.

We were in Ikos Aria last year and to be honest I didn't find it great for teens. That said, we went early-ish July so maybe slightly out of the peak-teen season.

We've done Club Med in the past. Hardly luxury but the sports facilities are excellent. Food is very good. However, it's 90% french ad if the kids don't speak french, it's difficult.

Our teens are like yours - love meeting other kids. I am at a loss this year.

lawn · 13/01/2020 15:18

@CatherineTheNotSoGreat Yeah we are going early July and maybe that's why we've had the same experience as you in the past. We've now booked Sani Beach on a couple of friends' recommendations (decided to do Greece again after all) - am hoping the evening entertainment, spa etc might keep them happy even if they don't meet anyone! It is definitely a tricky stage.

We went to Neilson's Beach Club in Sivota Greece a few years ago and I can remember some of the other parents saying they'd chosen it because it was a 10 min walk into a Greek seaside town/village so their teenagers could have some freedom/go off and do their own thing (hang out around the picturesque quayside) without their parents being worried. There are lots of sports on offer, but there's also a spa, and some mild sports (like standup paddle boarding) and waterskiing (you get some tows included in the cost of the holiday). When we were there, there were quite a few teens who all seemed to make friends and hangout.
