Jamaica over Christmas 2020?

We want to go abroad over Christmas next year. We’ve been to Barbados so looking for somewhere different- is Jamaica good? We have 3 kids who will be 3-7 by then. Budget of £6k so I’m thinking St. Lucia will be out of our budget.

My info may be out of date as I went to Jamaica in 2003. But I wouldn't go back. We stayed in an apartment belonging to a family friend. When we got back my Dsis was saying she wld look at taking her family. I remember saying to her, please don't ever take the children there.
I think if you stick to the resorts you probably have a different experience, but being young and more naive back then, we did our own thing. It wasn't friendly and at times we felt threatened. But someone that has been more recently/stayed on resorts may have a different view.

We’ve been to Jamaica over Christmas & New Year, staying in a resort, wouldn’t dream of otherwise. However we were in an adults only resort but we absolutely loved it. We only ventured out on organised trips, again it was what we felt most comfortable with there. There was a huge entertainment programme, Santa arrived on a speedboat, it was good fun and I imagine most resorts will put on a decent programme over the festive period. If you want a bit of freedom to roam about I wouldn’t choose Jamaica.

Last year i went to Exuma, Bahamas for New Year and loved it.
We stopped off at Atlantis in Nassau for 2 nights 3 days which for me was more than enough then out to Great Exuma.
So much to do there for all ages and really friendly people
