Mousses - Advice

Hi All,

We're off to Mousses next Sunday - thanks to the reccos on here! :-)

Have searched old threads for advice but there are a couple of points I can't find info on. Can anyone help please?

  • Is there a TV/DVD player in the villas?
  • Do they provide beach & bath towels?
  • Are the car seats in the hire car good enough (or should we take our own - dc are 2&4)?
  • Given recent events are people still happy to sit at Mousses bar with a baby monitor on or not?
  • How easy is it to get sitters?
  • Do they provide plastic cups and plates etc for the kids?
  • Is there a fridge in the room?
  • Is the resort still as good since Thomson took over from ST?

Phew, sorry quite an exhaustive list. Probably should have phone ST but wasn't sure they'd know and you lot all seem like experts.

Thanks in advance :-)

xx

We came back from Mousses a couple of weeks ago:

  • there is a tv and dvd player (we stayed in the villas but I think the appartments were the same)
  • they do provide beach and bath towels
  • we used the car seats provided. iirc we had to pay extra for them. They were fine for us, but other people took their own car seats -no one appeared to leave their children in the apartments. some might have left sleeping babies, but I didn't see anyone out with monitors. I heard that they don't do sitters anymore, but we didn't ask for a sitter so I don't know. When we were there, there were quite alot of older children who just stayed up in the evenings.
  • there are some plastic plates/cups (possibly not enough, but we just used what was there). no cups with lids if you are using those. yes there is a fridge.

Sorry don't know if it is as good as before - it was our first time. It is still owned by the same people, and the same rep is there as before, so I don't think it was changed. When we were there, there were people who were on their 2/3rd time and they didn't complain!

hope you have a good time!

libby, hi. we got back from mousses earlier today . it was our second visit. we had a fab time, but no, we didnt leave our dds this year, inspite of having a top notch baby monitor. just didnt feel right. no one else seemed to leave their litle ones either, although older children, aged 7-11 were often left to watch dvds (on laptops) alone while parents were at the bar. my dds are 3 and 5, btw and they stayed up till 10 on bbq night and 9ish the rest of the time.

there are no dvd players in the houses. we were in no. 2 this year, which had simon's own player in it, but it was the only one that did.

car seats are fine and they have lots of them. dont take your own. we took booster but neednt have bothered.

they no longer do baby sitting.

we had one plastic plate. no cups. no fridge in bedroom, but there is in the kitchenette, of course.

pollyanna...hello....i was sitting at the pool bar last night and read the guest book. i had to do a doudle take when i saw your name and a famiiar address......i need to CAT you

Thanks Pollyana and Noonar, really useful info. At least you're coming back to sunny weather at last!

What did you both tend to do in the eves? we were thinking of eating earlish with the kids in Lefkas Town or similar and seeing how they fared! What's the bar/restaurant on site like?

Thanks

Hi Noonar - I didn't know you were going back - yes please cat me.

Libby we either ate at the pool bar, went into town or just cooked at our house. We generally kept the children up with us - I think the fact it is 2 hours in front of UK meant they weren't tired until later, and also got up later, so we didn't have any problems. I have 4 children - aged 2,4,6, and 8, and must confess found the barbeque evening very tough with them all - especially the 2 year old who was obsessed with the pool. Other than that we had no problems sitting around the bar in the evenings and all the children played together. There is also a family of cats there which kept all the children entertained for hours (I tried not to think about fleas etc )

The bar food is, I would say, nothing special, but not inedible. I found it tougher taking my 4 out to eat as the 2 yo wouldn't sit at a restaurant table for long. There is a square in lefkas town with several restaurants in it that we could take her to and she could run around without too much danger from traffic, but generally I found it less stressful to eat in the resort.

We were looking at Lefkas for next year - I shouldn't think it will be Mousses though.

Has everyone booked 'package' or do you travel independently? We're abit tied to a definte fornight so need a Friday flight - seemingly impossible - or to go for less time and it's usually easier to do that independently.

noonar · 28/08/2007 11:17

pollyanna, will cat you soon.

libby, we ate out most of the time, coming home at 9 -10 ish. you cant eat that early in town, as most restaurants dont seem to open till 7.30 ish. try the lighthouse taverna for an earlier meal.

another option for earlier suppers is the beach tavernas, which are catering for people leaving the beach.

we found the restauarant to be more than adequate for the odd meal. food was fresh. bbq excellent, but agree with pollyanna as far as keeping track of LOs around pool is concerned.
(my youngest just turned 3)

during my second week, guests seemed to meet by bar for pre dinner drinks rather than after dinner drinks. in my first week the bar was v quiet in the eves. it seems to depend on who's there!

libby68 · 01/09/2007 18:45

One last question on this before we leave tomorrow (v early !!)

ST are saying they can't guarantee a cot for my dd aged 2yrs 3 months cos they are prioritised for infants. She's never slept in a bed before so I'd rather we could get a cot - do they have an ample supply or should we take our travel cot?

Thanks
