Looking for advice on best ski resort for total beginners please. Beautiful scenery, lots to do, restaurants, cafes, shops, a mix of activities (ski, snowboard, tobogganing, snow mobile, husky rides a bonus etc....). Not Finland / Lapland as we've already been. To visit either over Christmas or just after.

Morzine is pretty good for beginners, huge number of runs, plenty of restaurants and bars to suit most tastes and budgets and less then an hour from Geneva Airport.

Montgenevre has a lot of easy slopes and not overrun with Brits. Fly to Turin then you can get a coach transfer www.linkbus-alps.com/en/turin-airport/
It's a lovely resort and is quire scenic and there is a swimming pool and spa you can use.

Morzine, Courcheval, Val d’isere all have plenty to do.

I’d say pretty much any resort (with the exception of Chamonix)is fine for total beginners as they all have beginner areas. And as a beginner you don’t need lots and lots of easy runs, you’ll spend a lot of time on the nursery slopes. It’s when you’ve a bit more under your belt you need a more easy resort as you’ll want to be off exploring.

So while you may have to take the cable car back down rather than ski into resort the nursery slopes and some easy runs will be enough at any of those. I’ve named those 3 as they’re the ones I’ve been to with more shops/restaurants, etc. And all have other snow activities on offer.

Check out Evolution 2 for a lot of snow based activities and see which resorts they’re in.
