14hr flight advice

Hi all,

I have a trip coming up soon to Argentina.
The flight is 14hrs nonstop Shock I understand that Australia/NZ is much worse.

I am flying with British Airways. One way in Premium Economy and one way in Business Class.

I am tall for a woman, at 6ft.

Have you got any tips for long flights like this? I’ve only ever done longhaul to New York.

Wear layers, comfy clothing, take snacks with you, take a book, magazines, puzzle books, kindle etc. Drink plenty, but not alcohol. Get up and walk around often as you can. Watch movies, listen to music.
Sleep and relax , enjoy your trip!

You'll be fine in business and ok in premium though I don't think BA's premium is that good.
I flew to Australia with my under two year old (so no separate seat) and three year old in premium and economy. I'm 5'11". So your trip should be a breeze! Just walk around a bit and stay hydrated.

When you're in Economy, wear flight socks. Not so important in Business since you'll have a lie-flat bed, but essential when you're going to be sat down most of the time.

I don't know if BA have anything as useful as stickers for your shoulder to say "wake me for food" "definitely don't wake me for food", but if you have strong feelings either way bring your own.

Arrange your sleeping to facilitate your new timezone.

Noisecancelling headphones can make a big difference to how knackered you end up - I really rate the Apple Airpods Pro, or if you prefer over-ears Bose QC35/Sony WH1000MX3.

Otherwise as PPs - walk as often as possible, drink a lot of fluids, go to the loo a lot, take various books/audio/video/games. Be nice to the crew.

On long hauls, I take:
Lip salve to stop lips drying out
A sachet of Horlicks
A couple of sachets of camomile tea
Sleeping tablets
A good quality neck pillow
Silicon ear plugs
A freshly-stocked MP3 player and kindle
Chewing gum for take off/landing and after meals
Face wipes
Puzzle book

Not as tall as you but we flew economy to New Zealand and back last year and didn't find it particularly stressful, so you should be fine in premium economy and business. Depends a bit on whether it's a night or day flight. I prefer doing long haul overnight because once they turn the lights down and people settle it's a calmer experience.

Noise-cancelling headphones and an eye shade will help you sleep. I took a couple of audio books on my phone and listened but the in-flight entertainment was great: saw a number of films we'd missed at the cinema. Have some paracetamol or painkiller of your choice if your back is likely to play up. Practice your meditation skills and remind yourself that this is just 14 hours out of your life. Don't, whatever you do, watch the screen that plots where you are and how much longer you have to go – doing that slows time right down.
