I'm visiting my mum in the slough/windsor area for a week in october with ds 2.5yrs, would really appreciate any local info on stuff to do.

Also, is legoland open and is it suitable for his age?

Hmm, don't know about Legoland, I've never been. But there are two attractions near me (S Bucks)which are great for kids (you'd have to check whether they're still open or not): Bekonscot Model Village and Odds Farm Park. Will try and find links and will carry on thinking. Plus Burnham Beeches is great for walks.

There's a few MNetters in Windsor so hopefully they'll see this.

Thanx sticknote my mum is a fitness fanatic and jogs in burnham beeches i normally try to avoid it at all costs as she makes me march for miles!!

Might not be too bad with ds in tow - good excuse to take it easy.

Will look forward to reading up on your suggestions

regular bus on street from outside windsor central station to legoland, probably easiest way -quite good (& free)for young ones - indoor lego area, car-driving etc. Otherwise, walk along river - feed ducks, look at swans, crossover bridge to Eton; lots of child-friendly cafes aorund central station and also Long Walk down from castle where you can take them for a wander or on trikes. HTH

Yes, Legoland should be open until end of October I think and, yes, a hefty section of it is appropriate for a 2.5 year-old. Best to do legoland on a weekday, though, and to get there as early as possible.

There's a playground right near the library, a fairly decent one.

Don't have any other suggestions, though, sorry. I generally tend to hang about MIL's house when I visit. Traffic in Windsor/Slough is horrendous these days, so they're loath to leave the house unless absolutely necessary, especially during rush hour.

If you are going to try legoland try lastminute.com as they did have entry for 10 pound in the summer - I don't know if the offer is still on but it would save you quite a bit

There's lots of indoor play areas that are good. In particular we take DD (2.3)to Phoenix Gym which is open for play sessions from 09:30 to 10:30 each day. It's just by Oakley court Hotel and really good fun. There's also the playzone at Windsor Leisure Centre, and the Leisure pool itself. Legoland is great, but be prepared for a lot of walking! Also, another vote for Odds Farm Park. Enjoy your visit!
