Have done Horniman, Discover, Museum of Childhood, Science & nat hist museums, softplay, and just can't think of anywhere to go. Please don't just tell me to take them to the park in wellies and raincoats. They'd probably love it but it's my idea of hell.
Am in SE London, but have car.

Where did you stay Issy? Am looking for a Cornish holiday for a six year old, three year old, two sixteen year olds, dh, me and my friend who is dd's godmother next year (and poss also two other friends).
Must google BIG CORNISH HOUSES and hope not to find too much porn.

er, aloha, dh & his siblings have a 5 bed (is that enough? - two big doubles, one weeny double which is better as a single, two twins - plus a very basic separate bunkhouse (beds for 4) which is aimed at sixteen year olds wanting their own space) Cornish holiday house they let out. Don't want to do links on here (re privacy) but can forward info if wanted.

aloha · 22/08/2007 18:15

Oh please! Do you have my email? MI has it if not.

Gambado also in Beckenham but likely to be very busy on wet days and I think it is then a bit rough for young children because of all the bigger children tearing around. How about Livesey Museum in Old Kent Road - due to shut soon for preparation of new exhibition (check the date) but well worth a visit.

Bink · 22/08/2007 18:27

MI away isn't she?
Various people have mine (inc. Issy) - can we link up that way?

msappropriate · 22/08/2007 18:30

The Livesey? exhibiton ends soon though

Thank you, I really appreciate it. Lots of my friends really love Cornwall and I wanted a big holiday with all ages and I think this might be the last year dsd really wants to go on holiday with us. We'll say she can bring a friend too.
I'm quite excited now!

LGS / aloha - just wanted to say thanks for the recommendation / endorsement of Bekonscot - we went there on Sunday and DS had the time of his life.

At least, I think, thanks. I have had "talk about the model village" about 50 times in the last 24 hours, including about 10 canters through the bekonscot souvenir guide. As DH perceptively commented on the way back - I think this is a driving route that we're going to have to refine in the next couple of months before it closes.....

  • I will say, that next time, I will have the forethought to pack a rug, some cushions, and a gourmet picnic, so we can take turns - honestly, FOUR HOURS standing up looking at model trains? No one can criticise DS (2.9) for a short attention span....

Just wanted to add to the earlier Shrek message - if you want to buy youself even a bit more time (as well as re-ruuning Shrek 1 & 2 on DVD), go on the official website (www.shrek.com/main.html) and you can print off pictures for them to colour in ! (Bad mother !!!) I got my god-children to colour in their pictures, then we cut them to be the same size as the DVD insert - and replaced the DVD sleeve with their own drawings ! (Hours of fun for them, low maintenance for me !)

Also, can anyone help with outing ideas for an 11 month old. We go swimming every week - but really struggling for other activities on a weekend. Taken him to the Horniman (he couldn't have cared less), took him to the Tate modern last weekend (again, didn't give a shit), tried a soft play thing in Putney - where all the kids were much bigger than him - therefore disasterous ! Really need some ideas - am in SE London.

albsmum - have you tried mudchute farm? I went there just about every weekend when DS was that age - DH away a lot and it was easy to get to etc.

Aloha - have you been to the dinosaur thingie yet? DS very keen to attend now that I've mentioned it to him, and I'll probably go at some point in the last weekend in Sept (DH away) if you want a chaperone!
