we went to one in belgium in 2004 (I was 7 months pg with dd1) think it was called sunparks so not sure if it is the same.

It was okay but thats because we went at beginning of season so lots of things not open (or open for limited times) plus we were sharing one apartment and I was pregnant and fed up and we went with all of dh family (mil, fil, bil, sil and neice/nephew) and somehow we ended up with neice/nephew jumping on our bed at 6am whilst everyone stayed asleep and fil/mil insisted on walking miles so am sure it was a great place just not the best trip for me .

Oh and they are on about going away next year but to butlins for long weekend for mil 60th bday which will be fine because I'll book us our own room and we wont all be on top of each other!!!

yep have been to bispringer twice and loved it both times, hae been to elveden forest and perferred germany one.

if you are driving then i would recommend day out at serengeti safari park, also there is a small animal park just off the A7 and also a theme park near soltau (can't remeber name) but is superb like alton towers but half the price.

you will def enjoy

just one thing the changing rooms are communal as are the showers and the germans are big on nudity

That's really useful thanks - we are hiring a car so good excursions are very handy.

Do I warn 11 yr old dsd about the nudity or just laugh at her when the time comes....

hi

just remembered the name of the theme park it is Heide park, it has the one of the longest rollercosters in europe.

also a lot of people speak english in the surrounding areas as there a few british army camps up there.

if you get a chance make sure you stop in one of the villages or small towns and have an ice cream from one of the ice cream parlours they are lovely.

have a great time, am quite envious of you [envy}

Cool, I'm really looking forward to it. It's DS's first holiday .

Saz - I know this might sound daft, but can you recall whether the microwaves will be big enough to take a steriliser?

Sorry, i can't remember really, but would suggest you take a kettle with you and english teabags a germans not into tea and pretty sure there wasn't a kettle in room.

Good thinking.

Sorry, another one - is there a decent supermarket nearby or did you just use the one on site?

we used both, one on site but would recommend off site for nappies etc. Markhouf, Real, Aldi, Lidl, Rewe all good supermarkets and loads of things really good buys. If you use disposable nappies the take nappy sacks as really really hard to find over there.
