We looked at going business class, as I suffer form Fibromaygia and can get really painful, but the price was just to high, so looking for airlines with that little bit more room, flew Malaysian last time, although great service it was really squashed . Any suggestions?

Singapore airlines seats are reasonably spacious. My top tip would be to try and get a window seat in row 62 - that's the first row where it narrows at the back and you have 2 seats rather than 3 across. There's quite a bit of room between the seat and the window.

if you go to this website, you can compare the legroom and other exciting plane bits (like if there is a TV screen in the headrest in front of yours etc) for lots of different airlines.

We flew Singapore Airlines and it was v comfy. And the food was fab too. THo this was about 10 years ago

for seatguru, you need to know the type of plane you'll be flying in - usually you can get this info from the airline website, but some have more than one kind of plane for the same route, depending on the time of day and stuff.

Oh god I am now obsessed with this thread - just read an article about the 'best economy seats' and they reckon-

"Singapore Airlines and Cathay Pacific are two standouts, consistently ranked in various third-party surveys as among the best for economy class service. Their 747's feature personal in-flight entertainment and identical seat pitch (32 inches) as well as seat width (17.5 inches). Singapore Airlines offers a footrest, while Cathay Pacific doesn't. Seats 66 A and K on Cathay and seats 61 A and K on Singapore are far enough from the lavatories to avoid any unpleasant odors, but close enough to keep an eye on the line for those lavatories. The seats are also part of a pair and among the only twosomes on a 3-4-3 configuration. Because there is no seat directly next to the window, the seat feels roomier and perhaps offers the best of both worlds for the traveler who prefers an aisle seat but enjoys looking out the window."

My DH uses Sinapore Airlines regularly, to fly to both Sing and Aus.

You can get a FIRST CLASS seat on Sing (particularly if you are staying over on a Sat night) for the cost of a BA BUSINESS - free pair (of fairly hideous) Givenchy PJs thrown in!

singapore airlines definitely.

Singapore for room and service. Their frequent flyer programme is free to join and so if you went enough you would eventually be able to have your business class upgrade.

They also have awesome deals once you get to Singapore - we got 2 nights accomodation, a boat ride, a meal, the around island bus and entry into the orchid garden all free. We only spent 30 pounds in 4 days.

Twentypence - we're about to book for Singapore. Where did you find your fabulous deals, including accommodation? Did you book directly with Singapore Airlines, or go via an agent?

sunnydelight · 07/10/2007 12:40

Book directly with SA for the best deals on hotels etc. Notquite..

You can fly BA to Singapore and use their class between economy and business. I can't remember what it's called, Traveller Plus or something, but you get loads more space. On the downside, it's BA whose service really doesn't compare to airlines like Singapore Air. (Probably a bit late now, but just in case you ever travel there again.)
