Will my buggy get mangled on the plane?

Have to take 2 buggies with us, one of which is cheap and crap, so not particularly worried if it gets mangled. However, the other buggy is a nice one (a Quinny Zapp) and I don;t want it getting mashed, as we would be buggered without it

I have a carry bag thing for the quinny, could I take it on as hand luggage? Has anyone done this?

if you are worried about it, you can pack it into an extra plastic bag. ...

Are you checking it in or carrying up to the gate?

I never had problems with mine, but TBH I was not very precious about it either. Sometimes though, I saw it under the rain while the staff came to collect it. I think if I have left it there protected by a plastic bag they would have binned it!

can ypou take them to the gate then? DS2 is VERY heavy, and even DP struggles to hold him for a long time. DS1 will be ok (hopefully) but I cant see us being able to hold onto DS2 for 2 hours.

I'll check in the other buggy. I'm not so worried about that one tbh. We got it frr on Freecycle

Now, I had my new P&T (well, new to me anyway ) mashed after owning it for 5 days ... so ime, yes it might!
You can't take them on as hand baggage though. Big plastic bag/buggy carrying bag (you can get them from Mothercare)

We took ours to oz and back and was fine, but a cover/bag is good as it will get filthy. Also at the other end they get taken out seperately and don't go on the luggage carousel, i was worried as ours wasn't on there but then found it somewhere else with loads of other buggies!

after 5 days?

I ask, because I have a uni freind who used to be a baggage handler at Bristol airport, and I know for a fact they didn;t traet anything with care tbh.

In my life BC (before childrren), I used to travel someimes with a cello, and I used to pay for an extra seat for it rather then put it in the hold.

Funnypeculiar - not to black cat you, but my P&T got mashed after just 2 days. Only then did I realise that my insurance would only cover me for £250, and I had to pay a £50 xs. So everyone take heed and make sure your buggy is covered. I think I probably could have claimed more on my house insurance, but I didn't want a claim on that policy, as our premiums are high enough already.

I did manage to take my new P&T on the plane this time - but only because it was in the P&T bag. I think they must have thought I had some good reason to be carrying this huge bag onto the plane. They didn't bat an eyelid, and just stowed it somewhere on the plane. I wouldn't bank on being able to do this though.

That said - I've put buggies into the hold loads of times, and only ever had one problem. Would recommend some type of bag though.

I've taken my quinny long haul a few times, check the airport at your destination as some have buggies for use after passport control. They do tend to get a bit dirty but nothing that a wash cant fix. I also took a hip hugger with me to give the arms a rest as it was small enough to fit into my baby bag. Good luck.

Sorry, what happened to the mashed-up Phil & Ted's? How can a P&T get mashed?

I was hoping my P&T was bullet proof enough to survive, we will be taking it to the gate . I was planning to secure the flappy seat/wheels with a couple of brightly coloured luggage straps and a tag saying "please return to Slippers Family" in French and English, in hope of getting it back at landing instead of at baggage reclaim.

I thought if it was in a big bag they would assume it was any thing, whereas if obviously a pushchair it might get picked up/put down appropriately.

some hope I guess.
