Italy with young kids

Hi all, looking for suggestions for best areas in Italy to visit next summer. We have DC age 1 and will be travelling with friends who have DC age 5 & 2 so somewhere with activities for kids would be ideal. I'm thinking the lakes or amalfi coast but open to suggestions. We'd do self catering.

We went to a eurocamp in the Venice area. (Lido de jesolo) Had 3 kids, 7, 1 and 9 months. Was a really lovely holiday, just gorgeous. We hired a car for transfers and day trips. Venice was ok with a buggy as they had ramps everywhere and we didn’t get to Verona but it’s not far. Did the island tours.

Think Amalfi coast would be pretty limited with young kids, even beaches not especially sandy. Garda is probably most family friendly lake, you can paddle , take boat trips and there are a number of theme parks on south east coast.

I would suggest Garda too. It’s properly family friendly and not too ridiculously hot in the summer. You could mix it up with Milan which I found the most toddler friendly.

Thanks all. Like the idea of Lake Garda Smile

Yep I would also suggest Lake Garda. Como and Maggiore are more picturesque, but more for couples than families. Garda is perfect for families. Think there is also Gardaland close by (it is about 20 years since I was there) which is a children's theme park.

Another vote for Lake Garda, especially the southern end as it is flat. The Amalfi coast isn't really small child friendly. The streets are so busy and the pavements are very narrow. You would have to keep an iron grip on a child's hand. Also the beaches are very small, at the foot of cliffs and you have to pay to use them.

Thanks everyone, we ha e booked Lake Garda for next August! 😁
