Easter Australia

Thinking of 2 weeks in Australia with teens is it too short a time to experience down under

Well it's doable, but it's far better to try and make it 3 weeks if you can. Not only the length of flight to get there, but you'll also lose a day - e.g. if you take a flight from London leaving on Friday night, you'll not get to Sydney/Melbourne until first thing Sunday morning. If you can, try and get a flight that leaves in the morning - Singapore Air have one - and that way if you leave on a Friday you'll arrive Saturday evening.

It also depends what you're planning on doing when you're there. If you're doing just 2 weeks, don't be too ambitious in terms of travel.

Very jealous! I'd love to be going back to Oz.

It's drawing me back, I would just like to show a little to my teens

You can do lots in a fortnight - it'll feel longer - but it's the minimum I'd go for. Easter is nice in most parts for weather; no longer stupidly hot but not bucketing with rain yet. You might get a longer holiday in in August but it will be cold and wet in lots of the cities.

If you don't have family or friends to draw you to a particular region, check out Perth and the South-West corner. I'm a regular visitor - there right now - and there's lots to see and do, plus it's a shorter second leg.

Best thing I did this trip so far was buy decent noise cancelling headphones for the plane and arrive rested. Only got in yesterday though!

Second Perth and WA as it's on the same time zone as HK and only a 7.5 hour day flight from there which helps with jet lag (I realise it's still a trek from UK to HK!).

It depends on what you are trying to fit in tbh. Australia is so big that I wouldn't get too ambitious if you are only here for two weeks. What are your "must sees" and go from there. Also, what time of year might affect where you want to spend most of your time if you are looking for heat. For anyone who comes to Sydney where I live I always suggest they do at least a day trip to the Blue Mountains, and if drinking age (and inclination ) the Hunter Valley. Melbourne has always been a very popular weekend destination for teens in my house. Try and get your hands on proper melatonin to help with jetlag - my sister and son were here for 13 nights recently and it probably took three days for them to get over the jetlag, obviously you want to minimise that on a short trip.

I agree it depends on what part/parts you want to see. Eg its a 4 hour flight from Cairns to Melbourne which pretty much takes up most of a day.

You could maybe do a state or two but I wouldnt try and fit more than that into two weeks.

It's a huge country, so pick a one or two regions & explore them, depending on the experience you want. Easter is a good time weather wise but it's holidays here, busy & expensive, so I advise avoiding the hot spots (gold coast especially).
If you're driving Aus is a fantastic road trip country. That's the best way to experience this country. The cities & tourist destinations are fantastic but won't give you a whole picture. Perhaps consider Melbourne, Sydney/blue mountains, maybe a farm stay somewhere & perhaps fly to the sunshine coast or great barrier Reef - (there's a great speed boat option in Port Douglas) Just ideas. I always say nowhere is long enough but you either go with the time you've got or not at all so I know which I pick!!

We just got back from a 3 week trip. Spent 3 days in Singapore and then the rest of the time was spent in Australia. Still felt like I needed another week at least.

Really enjoyed Sydney and Brisbane. Cairns is good for boat trips to Islands and snorkling the reef. If you go to Cairns then take a trip to Green Island. We swam with wild sea turtles!
