Recommend a city break - me and 12 year old DS

Looking for somewhere to go for 4+ days after Christmas, so late December or early January. New York seems to be the obvious option but have considered Euro Disney.

Anywhere else I should consider?

For personality context... DS loves football, Xbox and art (doing it, but not so much looking at it). He's into shopping and clothes. Neither of us are particularly interested in museums, although we do love more interactive things like the science museum.

It will be just him and I travelling so needs to be somewhere safe for a woman alone with a child.

Thanks!

New York can be bitterly cold and snowy, in a bad way. It may also be very expensive if you go over New Year.

Can you stretch for a week and look at a Caribbean Island? I doubt that that would be more expensive than a week in NY.

My teens love Berlin, check out the Spy Museum.

Barcelona. Look round the stadium. Their Christmas is 6th Jan so everything will still be happening. Even so they are not as crazy as us which is a revelation. Lights, the Christmas, pooing man, beach, chocolate ....perfect for a 12 year old.

We have been on city breaks with dc around that age to:
Krakow
Prague
Budapest
Berlin
Madrid
Lisbon
London
and this year Gdansk

Amsterdam! Their science museum is great fun with lots of hands on things, and as long as you stay away from the very centre/red light district it's really family friendly and safe. I wrote a little about our summer visit here, our teen's highlights was the Anne Frank Museum and eating at the Foodhallen. museummum.com/2018/09/28/top-10-things-to-do-in-amsterdam-with-kids/
