Yesterday we booked our holiday (woohoo), anyway I did this via ba's website, and it says we won't get a proper (well paper) plane ticket but I should print out the confirmation email sent with all the details. Was wondering if anyone else has had this and if you had problems, or if everything was fine??? It's just that I'm now a teeney bit worried as I'll have 2 under 2 to take care of and the last thing I need is immigration problems becasue ba hasn't issued me paper air tickets (am I making sense here??). TIA

We haven't had any problem with this - flew BA on our last 2 holidays (long haul).

They are only really a plus if you have hand luggage only (no queuing at check-in), but they won't hold anything up.

Shouldn't be a problem - passport control is very familiar with them, so even if you don't check in (i.e., have only hand luggage) you should get through with just eticket confirmation. Otherwise, in any event, you'll have a paper boarding pass one you check in. The nice plus about etickets is that you don't even really need the print out (but take it anyway!) as they can check you in by name just with your passport and sometime the eticket or confirmation number. I will say that there is one BIG negative with etickets, though, and that's if you need to change the ticket for any reason. It's quite a chore, usually. Otherwise, I think they're great.

I use them all the time and have never had a problem. You can even avoid the queues by checking in using the automatic machines (you just put in the credit/debit card you booked the tickets with) - you get to choose your own seats this way too - and then taking your luggage to the fast bag drop desk. Or you can check in normally if you feel more comfortable with this, just present the print out or credit card.

I think you can only do automatic check-in if there are no children in the group.

Hi,
I have recently booked seats with BA for next year, did it on the web site but I have been sent proper tickets, what is the difference please?

MTS · 23/09/2004 17:50

easyjet only issue confirmation e-mails anyway - personally i would much rather receive an immediate confirmation e-mail into my hotmail that I can access/print off on any internet computer in the world than have to worry about a paper set of tickets. I had a ba e ticket last year for flying Manchester-Vienna and that was all very straighforward.

My dh flys regularly to Copenhagen with BA and uses e-tickets. We also flew there with the kids last year using e-tickets. No problems.

I always thought that you have to have a hard ticket issued for an under 2 if you are not buying them a seat. You aren't likely to have immigration problems, but you may have trouble getting seats booked in advance. I would call ba and double check your booking.

Thanx everyone, SofiaAmes yes am going to re-confirm everything by phone once I get a chance. I just needed to know what other peoples experiences were.
Triplets, when I booked my tickets I was informed that' I wouldn't actually get a hard copy (as such) of my plane tickets and they'd send me an email instead which should be printed off and taken with me on my journey, although the credit card used for the booking was fine as evidence that I had a booking.

Hi all,
Are you still covered if you have to cancel an e ticket?

Caribbeanqueen · 24/09/2004 09:42

We did this in August, I think you can use the check-in machines if you have only hand luggage. There's no problem going through immigration as you will have a normal boarding pass by that time. Make sure you take the credit card that you used to make the booking though (we forgot and only just got allowed to check in).
