40th birthday - Oct half term family city break!

Starting to research what I could do for my 40th. It's just before October half term so we'd be able to go away for a break then, ideally for 4/5 nights.

Where could you lovely Mums-netters recommend to take a 6 year old, DH and me?

So far I've got Barcelona and Lisbon on my list, I'd love to go to Copenhagen but presuming it will be too cold.

We've done Berlin, Hamburg, Munich and Nuremberg with DS, so Germany is out!

Any other ideas of cities with lots to do for this age?

I once found a very gorgeous Airbnb in Seville
Let me see if I've got it bookmarked still

Agree, Seville is great and October would be a good time to go, average high 26c, low 14c although could of course be hotter or cooler than average. But still not the unbeatable heat of mid summer when it gets up to 40c.

Much prefer Seville to Barcelona and prefer Porto to Lisbon, although I do like Lisbon. Granada is great too. Copenhagen is eye wateringly expensive for accommodation (highest average hotel prices in Europe I read somewhere) and weather will probably be similar to UK in October.

We stayed in the Seville Acquilla suites.
Nice and clean Sc accommodation in a brilliant location with a small heated rooftop pool. Quite cheap as well and right in the centre

Another vote for Valencia. Great for kids and adults.
Krakow
Iceland

We did a split centre Rome and Sorrento trip a couple of years ago. Weather in October was perfect for sight seeing in low twenties.

SJane48S I love Segovia, Granada and Barcelona too and Cordoba is a great favourite, especially for the patio festival in May. Highly recommended if you haven't been.
Although I recommended Valencia which I liked, I didn't love it either but know I'm in the minority and thought it might be good with the 6 year old due to the beach, zoo and Aquarium.
I'm glad I've seen Rome. I really wanted to love it but the steaming crowds despite the torrential rain made it hard to love.
Planning a road trip to Salamanca, Toledo and the Extremadura next spring if you want to tag alongGrin
