European driving holiday post Brexit

We're thinking of a 2020 driving holiday, Netherlands, Germany and France. Have found a perfect cottage in France that I want to get booked asap, but brexit is making us nervous. Has it put off anyone else? I think I'm thinking about possibly needing visas and international driving licenses and we were wondering if it will be an issue crossing borders. Wonderinf what other people are thinking who normally do this type of holiday? Wish we'd done it years ago!

You may need an international driving licence and a green card for your car which shows the insurance (issued by your insurance company).

Visa may be a problem but that also will affect you if you fly or take the train.

Border controls may be longer but until Summer 2020 they hopefully have something sorted. Saying that we were delayed for over 2 hours this year at the Eurotunnel due to strike action.

As Europe itself has hardly any border controls you should have no issues crossing from France to Germany or any other Schengen countries.

I think book it. No one knows for sure what the outcomes of anything will be for next summer, but we did similar this summer and just prepared as much as we could, despite no deal potentially happening 12/4 and us leaving on 15/4. International driving permits and insurance docs are easy to get. IDP from the post office and costs less than £10. Insurers were offering the additional docs for free for us to take away this summer.

For visas, the EU previously said unless you were going for more than 90 days out of 180, no visas were needed and there are online calculators to help work it out if you've planned a few trips.

Make sure you have good travel insurance as EHIC may not provide any cover, and before booking anything make sure all travellers can get cover at an affordable price.

Other than that, have an amazing trip, we definitely enjoyed our summer!
