DH and I are off to California in a couple of weeks. We're taking dgc aged 2 and are doing 2 days at Disneyland on the trip. Does anyone know if the new California disney park is worth a visit. Would welcome any information. Thanks.

There isn't a new Disney park in CA OP. Do you mean the new Star Wars Land at Disneyland, Anaheim? That has replaced Big Thunder Ranch, but I can't see that a 2-year-old will care much or be old enough to go on the new rides!

There is now something called Disney California adventureland which is separate from Disneyland and require a different ticket. I think it has more shows and fewer rides.

That's been open since 2001! I've never been, so can't help, but there's lots of info online if you Google it.

california adventure has cars land which may be of interest for a 2 year old

I loved both parks! Our DD was 5 when we visited I don't think a 2 year old would be allowed in most rides apart from the Ferris wheel, flying over California and some more show like rides (in the California one). Disneyland is pretty much the same as the on one Paris/Magic Kingdom in Orlando. Again not too much to do but will keep him entertained.

Go your 2 year old will love it, my DD was 18 months on her first trip and had great fun. Disney California is much more compact than Florida and really great.

It's been open since before 2002, we went there then. our ticket worked for for parks but ours were tiny and preferred the main park, Cinderella story time was their favourite thing, not the rides. We went after the schools went back in September

Both parks are worth a visit but have a different feel to them.

I loved Disneyland. We went there when DD was 8 and there was lots for her to do apart from the rides, e.g. meet the characters roaming around, see the boating lake, go on the train that runs around, etc.

CAP is also great but we somehow felt that it was not quite so suited to very little ones. There are some interesting things for them there though, e.g. Turtle Talk with Crush.

Definitely worth a visit, does feel quite outdated though, especially if you've been to Florida. I'd say 2 days is perfect, spending a day in each park.

Thanks for your advice. I think we'll get a 2 day hopper ticket and visit them both. I'm hoping that mid september will be a bit quieter than high season.

DCA isn’t new at all, as others have pointed out but it’s absolutely worth a visit as part of a hopper. There is much more to do in Disneyland itself but we loved the shows at DCA. Park hopping is ridiculously easy as you can literally just walk across.

Easily my favourite Disney location! Enjoy it, it’s a magical place especially for little ones!

The park hopper tickets are best I think even if a little more expensive. With little ones I think you struggle to fill a full day at DCA so would avoid the one day in each park option. However, it’s definitely worth going to. We did most of day one at Disneyland and then did the Princess tea/dinner at Ariel’s grotto at DCA (maybe around 4pm or 5pm) and then did Cars Land after that. The following day I think we did a few hours in Disneyland (the main bits we had missed the day before plus a character ‘brunch’ then did DCA Bugs bit for a few hours in the middle of the day and then went back to Disney for afternoon and evening.
