Dubai and Vietnam...

Hi all, we're all booked up to take our little one (10 Months) out to visit his grandparents in Vietnam later this month...

We had all our jabs, but due to his age, he isn't allowed the Typhoid or Hep A, so I already have concerns about the water out there !

Has anyone been that direction and have any advice on feeding/travelling to/from...

We will primarily be in Ho Chi Minh (Saigon).

General precautions were already thinking is to boil water and keep a store of pre-boiled and cooled to make up bottles, as he is still on formula, had to abandon breast feeding due to complications early on :(

What about local fruit and veg, he loves strawberries and oranges, but guessing most products will be locally grown, using questionable water sources, so washing them will only take care of the outside... is that me being over cautionary?

At the end of the day, we can always obstain from the fruit and just go with pouched food, which should be readily available (I hope).

Other questions really stem around, is it worth taking our pushchair, last time we went out there, the pavements were mostly used for motorcycles and chairs by the locals, so not really much room to push an oyster 2 around anyways...

We have also tagged 2 days in Dubai on the way out, any advise welcome on that country too, especially In relation to the HEAT!

I'd say the oranges would be ok - general advise is to peel or cook fruit and veg. Might give the soft fruit a miss for the holiday tho!
Not Vietnam, but we took a sling for a similar trip. Hired a summer weight one from the local sling library, and it was great.

Dubai in September? Stick to the inside stuff! Strawberries in Dubai are probably imported from Mexico (or Egypt if they are on offer).

Dubai is only a couple of days, and most the stuff we doing is very much air con facilitated.

Eat the delicious small sweet bananes (no need for fruit washing)
Buy bottled water
All 3 of you can travel on a moped Grin
Yes, I've been to Vietnam & seen all the mopeds !

I would stick to fruit that you can peel.
I have been to Vietnam many times and would not take a pushchair as the pavements are full of chairs, parked mopeds or are uneven - not worth the stress.
I would use bottled water - I think you have to check the fluoride level though - or perhaps this is something I have imagined?
