I'm flying (on my own) with my 9 week old ds to Holland later today.

Anybody got any tips/experience?

how much formula milk am i allowed to take in hand luggage. I always bf but want to take some ff just in case (bf while in the middle seat might not work

I'd try and feed on taking off and landing. Try bf rather than FF, espcially if that is waht your ds is used to. Do you know you are going to be in the middle seat?)

Don't know how much formual you are aloowed - expect that you have to be prepared to taste or (or get the child to have it).

Only start feeding as the plane starts accelerating dwon the runway - sometimes they taxi for ages beforehand!

You may be forced to taste formula if you go through security with it, so worth buying ready made airside or taking water and powder separately. (think it can be more than 100ml liquid container limit ) BF more convenient.

As you board ask which toilet has baby changing facilities - as we found out on an easy jet flight only the rear toilet had facilities & I thought I'd been clever by sitting right near the loo at the front! Cue a stinky bum and carrying DS the length of the plane level with everyones face - nice.

Feed on take and landing, bf if possible.

Take an extra cushion (if you have space) for you to use cos baby will probably sleep whole way and you need to be comfortable. My ds1 slept all way to Geneva when he was 15 weeks old but its not so great if you're propped up trying not to disturb them. Even a rolled up pashmina is better than nothing.

Dummy if you use it JUST in case baby does wake.

People will help you with luggage etc when they see your cute baby so accept help with a big smile.

Allow plenty of time if you have to check in car seat/buggy/travel cot - well done if you don't need to take any of these!!

Good luck, bet it will be a breeze.

Thanks very much for all your tips.
ds is just having a little sleep at the moment which gave me time to do a final check. (luggage, baby bag etc, not just mn)

Also just realised that easyjet let you board early if you travel with small babies so I'll aim to have an isle seat near the changing fac. For some reason it had not occured to me that i might have to change a nappy, alhough I packed about 12.

Quite looking forward to my little adventure, although am getting a bit nervous as well
