So we have booked our holiday to spain, and just now wondering how on earth we are going to cope with ds!!
He is limited in what he can eat as he has eczema and we were advised to do a new food every 2 days - so by the time we go he will have a repertoire of about 40 foods..
and he can't have dairy, or banana...
any tips for feeding him abroad - should I just take loads of jars?
And how do you cope with bottles abroad - sterilising, how many to take etc? He has to have dairy free prescription only formula - will I be allowed to take it in the hand luggage so it doesnt get lost?

Any packing tips - we are going for a week in late september?

My dd is lactose intolerant, so I was concerned about taking her to France when she was 7 months old, but we managed.

Can any mums in Spain find out if the brand of formula you use is available in Spain? Dd has nutramigen and I was able to find out that it is sold in pharmacies in France but had to be ordered in, so I took enough to last a couple of days and bought the rest there (although it wasn't on prescription there). The security people at Bristol and Toulouse airports didn't even look at the formula I took in my hand luggage, but I did only have one tin of it with me. I made sure it had the prescription label on it, though.

Mothercare do so-called steriliser bottles that you just put a bit of water in the bottom and microwave the bottle here, so as long as you have access to a microwave, you don't need anything else.

I took a chance on French jars being OK for dd (and there were a good selection that were), so again, it might be worth asking if any mums in Spain can tell you what the jar selection is like there. Assuming you have access to a microwave, it might be worth taking one of those stick blender thingies in your hold luggage so you can cook and whizz suitable food for your ds if necessary?

The other thing I would suggest is take one more bottle of water for formula than you think you will need in your hand luggage - I found that my bottles leaked even with the disc thingy in, because of the cabin pressure, and they all lost about 1/3 of their water. Oh, and put them in a plastic bag - I didn't and everything else in my bag ended up soaked.

Hipp organic stuff is available in Spain, according to their website here
