Norwegian Air to New York - food options

We’re flying Norwegian to New York in October (and before anyone says it, I know they’ve had financial problems, yes one of our flights has been switched to a partner airline (wonderful!), yes I’ve got scheduled airline failure insurance and no they really really aren’t ideal! I’m paying for this trip myself, I earn about a third of my DH who pays for the majority of most holidays as it’s a birthday treat on the cheap for my DH. Hopefully won’t turn out to be a nightmare!). It doesn’t look like it from their website but does anyone know if they have a trolley on board for food? You can buy a ‘three course meal’ in advance but circa £25 a head per flight for probably not very nice airline food seems a little excessive!

Lots of the shops are open all hours in Gatwick. Also you can take empty reusable bottles through security and there is a water refill station on the other side.

An M and S picnic perhaps? Not sure if there's one there though?

We just flew back and to New york with them on Thursday. We did pay for the food. Food on the way there was horrible- an
cheese omelette and beans and sausages. The food on the way home was slightly better with a beef pasta dish or chicken stew or curry and a panini sandwich. The movies are dated- last year so download movies or shows you want on a device. I didn't mind so watched bones and the mentalist episodes. Staff were friendly to us and responded quickly. Hope this helps .

Thanks. DD never eats plane food, I’m a vegetarian and DH is picky so I think we’ll swerve. Good to hear lots of places will be open so that seems the best option. Had already planned to take loaded up tablets & a good book! Cheers all and pleased to hear that many have used them without any significant issues, I think the majority of people motivated to write reviews tend to have an axe to grind!

Unless you are flying business class most airline food is at best adequate. I always get salads, juice etc from Pret a Manger
